The printer above is inoperative account carriage jam. I have tried numerous time to reset (nothing obstructing carriage), any suggestions. This is an all in one unit (copier, fax, scanner and printer).

The service station is broken. This is a common problem with the 5110 and the Officejet V40 and Deskjet 3820. So much so, that HP has been replacing some of them in spite of being out of warranty. Do a site seach for the 3820 to get the details.

The small gear in the 3820 is repairable if the problem is the plastic tab has broken. Simply use a small finger drill to make 2 holes at right angles to the gear then push fit in a bent paperclip. Works great !! at least so far (1 week)

This is re the 3820 gear with the plastic tab. My 3820 printer has worked like a gem for the last year and I really feel bad that it has died!

The gear is broken such that I can't mentally figure out the original construction. Could you (Actually anyone!) please send a sketch to me at my email address? I do have all the necessary tools to do the work....

Problem: I have temporarily reassembled the printer - but I am not sure that I have the transfer case gears in the right place. I didn't make a sketch as I disassembled - bad procedure! Do you have any ideas of how I might be sure that what I might be doing is right?
