 | HP Director for HP PSC 1310 Series by Liz (5/22/05 4:19 PM) reply | + / - | I have had a few problems with my printer (HP PSC 1315). I had to return my first one, but instead of uninstalling and reinstalling the software, I restored my system back to before I even had this version printer. I installed the software then and deleted my old printer from my computer. The HP Director software worked fine. I have not used HP Director since then. But today, I used it and instead of opening the program, it immediately comes up with this error message:
HP Director application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I don't know what's wrong with it. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? I'd rather not reinstall the software (I don't think that should change anything anyway), but I guess I'll try if no one can think of anything else. Thanks!

 | Re: HP Director for HP PSC 1310 Series by David46 (5/23/05 11:54 AM) reply | + / - | Doing a system restore does NOT delete the printer software you installed, it just removes the "reference" to it. You therefore now need to reinstall the software to make it work. David

It worked after I installed the software, but it doesn't work now. Restoring the system deletes software that was added after the restoration point, so it did delete all of my HP PSC 1315 software. There was no trace of it on my computer before I installed it at that time. I guess I'll just uninstall it and reinstall it now.

Was told by HP that it was a script error caused by something that was not installed on my computer. Can anyone help me on this. I have a Dell 4600 Dim with Windows XP?

If you have any doubts, uninstall the software and reinstall it carefully following the instructions on the computer screen.
The problem may be caused by upgrading to Internet Explored 7. Do a site search for lots of discussion on the issue.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling hoping that the problem would be fixed but it still does the same thing. I've wasted a lot of papers already and of course, the ink as well. Need help.

I went to HP support, put in PSC 1315v, entered my operating system (Windows XP) and it took me to a download page. I then downloaded the critical update to resolve an issue after installing a new IE. Followed the prompts; after downloaded, ran the install, then rebooted. Now I can open the HP Director without a problem. Give it a try! Good Luck, Jappi

I have HP director as well as HP Zone Express on My Desktop. I must've done something wrong because when I click on HP director all I get is a viewing screen such as Nero Essentials Photosnap and I can change that as in the option "Open With". I can still access Zone Express but can't edit my pictures or scan in Zone Express as in HP director. I went into Bin and found a HP icon and under it was Shortcut hpqthbo8, I clicked on that and sent it to My Desktop, now all I have to do is click on the shortcut and I get the HP Image screen, from there I am able to edit pictures and also scan or print, just as I did in HP Director. SO...I don't need Director after all.
