Canon i850 Service Error 6800 problem

My Canon i850 (1 year old) is reporting 'Service Error 6800'. The documentation suggests that a 'Service call is indicated'. The light is flashing alternate green/orange. I cannot access the cartridges/print head. It won't even turn off! Prior to this the printer had not been printing at all - even tho' the printer head could be heard moving. Anything I can do myself or is it a job for Mr Repairman?! Bob (UK)

Further to my first posting - having found various refs to reset codes (relating to waste ink errors) I have tried various combinations of button presses - now at least I can access the cartridges and some 'whirring' goes on when I try some sequences. But still no real life in the printer and the light usually goes back to flashing alternate green/orange. Any chance of resurrecting the thing or has Canon triumphed again?! - but they won't triumph because next time I shall buy an Epson! Thanks in advance to anyone who tries to help!! Bob J (UK)

The service manual for your printer is available on line in this site, check the "Reference" section then Manual or the following page: http://www.fixyourownprinter.com The link above doesn't work since the server corrupts all links pointing to fixyourownprinter site and the bug hasn't been still corrected, to use it you need to remove the duplicated www.fixyouownprinter.com/

Thanks for that. I found the manual but it didn't have the solution I needed. Looks like a new Epson printer for me. Thanks for answering! Bob J

may printer canon 1300 turn into found new hardware 1700. now it dosnt work. i download the driver for canon 1700 still doest work. error 6800 shows.. help me... how can i fix this
