 | Re: Re: Re: hp 3330 by wingman3 (5/16/07 6:01 PM) reply | + / - | I did do a mirror clean not once but twice, but I still get the same error Scanner Bulb Warming up
|
 | Re: hp 3330 by moe (5/16/07 6:06 PM) reply | + / - | How did you clean the mirrors? Did you clean them through the little window or did you actually take the plastic cover off and clean everything inside? Sometimes you can just clean what's accessible through the little window opening, but I prefer to take the top apart and clean it thoroughly.
|
 | Re: hp 3330 by wingman3 (5/16/07 7:21 PM) reply | + / - | I took the plastic lid off and cleaned it, the first time with alcohol and then second with just a cotton swab, but the error still comes up.
|
 | Re: hp 3330 by Stephen (5/17/07 4:39 AM) reply | + / - | The alcohol was a mistake, after cleaning with alcohol you may have left streaks that can not be removed with a dry swab.
SOmetimes you just have to replace the scanner assembly.
|
 | Re: hp 3330 by wingman3 (5/17/07 9:08 AM) reply | + / - | Hi Stephen, Thanks for the reply but I read on the forum that it needs to be cleaned with pure alcohol so i went ahead and did it
|
 | Re: hp 3330 by wingman3 (5/17/07 9:10 AM) reply | + / - | Oh forgot to mention that the Scanner bulb error sometimes goes off and the 79 error appears.
|
 | Re: hp 3330 by Anonymous (5/17/07 9:20 AM) reply | + / - | a few things, first try the following: 1. Perform a scanner walkout: a. Unplug the printer, lift scanner bed lid. b. Plug in printer wait until scanner assembly moves out to left, unplug printer. c. Repeat until scanner assembly is 3/4 across the scanner glass. 2. If the printer goes to ready then we want to check the firmware and update it id needed(Note: Must be connected to a PC to update firmware) : a. Press the "Menu/Enter" button, then the " > " button until you reach "Reports" press "Menu/Enter", and press the " > " until you get to config report, and press "Menu/Enter" b. On the config page there will be a firmware datecode, if the date code is not 20021018w then it will need to be updated by the following: I. Disconnect the fax cord from the back of the Laserjet II. Download the utility by clicking on the following: http://h20000.www2.hp.com press download and save, saving it to the desktop. III. Run the download and press the "Send firmware" button. this process will take a few minutes. 3. If the printer goes back into the error we want to make sure the power is directly into the wall. 4. As a final step we want to perform a cold reset on the product, to do so: a. Disconnect the USB or Parallel cable and unplug the power. b. With the power unplugged hold down the "Menu/Enter" and the " * " buttons and plug the unit back in. wait until the unit says permanent storage init.
****** THEN CLEAN THE MIRRIORS, theres multiple posts of how to do it either walk the scanner to under the left side of the glass and remove the small cover or remove the whole cover. ****** If this doesnt fix it replace the 3330 scanner assembly, make sure it is not the laser scanner assembly though as that is a different part.
If it ways 79 error of just sits at the hp screen replace the formatter or sell that peice of shit and buy a new one, the 3390's use a differnt type of scanner assembly that doesnt have this problem, the only problem they have is they CAN be knocked out of place, although this usually only happens during shipping.

 | Re: hp 3330 by JEA (7/14/08 5:56 PM) reply | + / - | My HP 3330 indefinitely cycles through the warm up phase of the scanner. The scanning light shifts back and forth while the touchpad window on the unit indicates the scanner is warming up. None of the other functions, including the printer, function. Can anyone help?

 | Re: hp 3330 by dmzcompute (7/14/08 7:12 PM) reply | + / - | READ the posts above as there is a wealth of infomration about cleaning the mirror on the scanning unit. If you can not find instructions above just do a search as there are over 100 threads with instructions.

 | Re: Re: Re: hp 3330 by Anonymous (4/22/09 10:51 AM) reply | + / - | I have the exact same problem -- cancel flashing ! ! ! ! ! red exclamation points along with green fax light being on as well in the little screen it says "Upgrade Error CALL HP SUPPORT".
So, I called Hp Support. I emailed Hp Support -- the email in reply stated to NVRAM reset. Of course I don't know what NVRAM reset is nor how to do it. and Hp is telling me they do not provide support for my machine as it is 5 years old (oh no not five years old!!!) Now, I've called locally . . . I'm pissed and want to report this problem to the better business group in Wisconsin.
My printer was working fine and then all of the sudden this message. I'm sure this is something simple too -- and, hey Hp can sell me a fix for (39.99) -- I hope some lawyer didn't cook this up to make an extra buck. This is the flaw with captalism, hey? Sell me something just so it breaks in five years and then try to sell me another one -- just to make more money (just invest in my stock and everything will work out in the wash).
This is B.S. Anyone figure it out yet?

Another thing, I'll answer the phone and the fax, on the same line, will kick on and start with all the fax noises normally associated with a fax machine.
