 | Epson CX6400 by Sybaek (5/31/04 11:19 PM) reply | + / - | I've read numerous articles on the Epson 5200 and am wonderin if my Epson Stylus CX6400 is suffering from the same problem of a clogged nozzle. I run the nozzle check and the black and blue lines are blurred, and the yellow and magenta don't show up. Is it possible to perform the head cleaning specified in the posts or should I just try to get Epson to give me a new printer?

 | Re: Epson CX6400 by Denny Conway (6/23/04 4:45 PM) reply | + / - | Sybaek: If your printer is under warranty, then I would suggest that you call the "Epson Customer Relations Department" and file a warranty claim. Epson offers a Whole Unit Exchange, when the printer is still under its origional Factory Warranty, but you may need your sales receipt or sales invoice for Proof Of Purchase. JUST TO LET YOU KNOW: A "Whole Unit Exchange" may not actually be a NEW printer. Usually you are sent another printer, that was already returned to Epson under warranty. That returned printer was sent to the Epson Repair Facility, where it was repaired and is then used in the Whole Unit Exchange program...Denny Conway

 | Re: Epson CX6400 by PrinterGod (9/7/06 1:02 PM) reply | + / - | Don't call 562 276 1311, that is CUSTOMER RELATIONS not Technical Support. They are not technically trained, they will put you back into the tech queue... Lots of waiting and long distance this way.
Call Technical support 562 276 1300, explain your issue, you wont be charged for TS. They will offer you a discount on new products. Ask for a repair and they may repair it for you for free if your model falls under the current promotion program. But reguardless, epson has a special website for Current epson customers to buy discounted printers of new models.

 | Re: Epson CX6400 by Reneemarie (2/23/07 3:25 AM) reply | + / - | Hello there,
My Epson CX6400 was sitting for about 6 months before I hooked it up. When I went to print, it printed blurry. I called tech support and they led me thru the head cleaning and nozzle check process. In the end it printed the same way and the tech told me that it probably was a hardware issue and gave me the loyalty website. Do you think that the nozzle is clogged? The black prints, but it is blurry.

 | Re: Re: Epson CX6400 by WaveGuide (2/23/07 11:42 AM) reply | + / - | Hello Reneemarie, Your problem is undoubtedly blocked jets in the print head. The 'nozzle' you refer to is actually a series of microscopic jets (dozens of them) through which ink is 'sprayed' onto the paper.
After 6 months standing, the ink inside the head/jets will have dried out, blocking many with solid ink. You may be able to recover the blocked jets using the head cleaning fluid available via this website. http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/kits/epson/52
Follow the instructions provided with the kit, but I'd suggest allowing the cleaning solution to work on the head/jets for several days.
Cheers, JaX

 | Re: Re: Epson CX6400 by Anonymous (11/29/09 1:58 PM) reply | + / - | I'd say the waste ink counter has overflowed its limit, so it's telling you to have the ink pads replaced and the counter reset. It usually doesn't actually require any work, but it's a nice earner for Epson. Maybe the SCC Utility covers your model? It will reset the counter and off you go.
