My Brother MFC 9100C (multi-function) prints with streaks. The test print verifies this, and the built-in cleaning routine has been exercised more than 5 times, as recommended in the manual. Brother wants to send me a new print head kit that includes 4 cartridges for $150. The printer was bought as a refurbished unit in December of 2002. The print head appeared to be bad (streaking) the first time I used it, and Brother replaced the printhead at no charge then. Can someone recommend what I should do next? Is there a reasonable fix? Or should I just put my $150 into a new printer? I would like to have the printer/scanner/copier flatbed capabilities.

I recently bought a Epson (my 5th) CX6400 all-in-one, color printer, scanner, copier. Works great. Staples, 169.00 plus 20.00 mail-in rebate.
It has on-board digital camera media reading slots also. It uses smudge proof and water proof ink.

Thanks, Mike, for your input on the Epson CX6400. It caught my eye at Staples. Apparently it was not tested by Consumer Reports for the May 2004 issue. Can anyone else tell me of any good experiences with flatbed all-in-ones? I need to copy pages from books, etc. Does anyone have good experiences with the Brother MFC 9100C? Mine has always tended to streak on digital photos, but I haven't given up entirely yet.
