 | hp color laserjet 4600 lines on front & back by joshuagarr (11/4/09 10:04 AM) reply | + / - | We have an HP Color LaserJet 4600 that is printing multi colored lines (black, yellow, cyan) on the front and back of every single print. I see the lines on the transfer unit and I can see lines on the toner drums of the black, yellow, and cyan toners. I clean them off but the lines always re-appear in the same place.
We don't currently have a pile of spare toners or a spare transfer unit for this printer. Is there any way to diagnose the problem without replacing all the toners and/or the transfer unit?
thanks, Josh

This will allow you to remove any or all the cartridges & print test pages with missing toner cartridge(s). Also you can swap positions, black into the cyan spot & ext.
Your problem sounds like a bad cartridge that is pushing too much toner out that the belt can't clean enough of it off. Its what I've see do this before at least. If its mostly one color start by removing it & printing a test page (like the configuration page which is under the information menu).
If its too hard to tell which might be remove those 3 at once & leave only the magenta installed. The configuration page will use only what colors are still inside so your config page will be mostly redish/pink. It might take a few pages to clear the belt off unless you clean it off before hand. Install one at a time again until you figure which toner it is.
This mostly happens with the refurbished cartridges but hopefully

I never noticed that "disable cartridge check" option, very very helpful. thanks!
