 | Phaser 8200 print shifting down by meatavious (edited 6/29/09 4:58 PM) reply | + / - | When I print from the paper tray of the 8200 everything is shifted down about 1cm. The problem only happens when printing from the tray. When printing from the manual feed, everything is centered properly. It's like the paper is being fed through the path a second late.
I have inspected the paper path, the flags look good, and a service tech came and said the rollers look fine. He cleaned and adjusted the pickup assembly but that didn't fix the problem. He said he thinks it may be an electric clutch on one of the rollers.
Does anyone else have any idea what this might be? Is there possibly something I can reset or adjust for the timing?
I'm not sure the tech works on these printers enough to be able to fix this and I don't want to have to pay again for a different service person to come out.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Also, no fault codes are being given.
UPDATE: I ran some tests in the diagnostic mode, two of which resulted in faults. The paper path timing test had a fault with a value in R6: 646. Also, when exercising the y-axis, I get a test fault.

You can re-tension the top, longer one, but the lower would need to be replaced. Yes, the pick clutch could be sticking, try blowing out with canned air.{all of them!} Since only from the casette, the roller could be too worn. I use a rubber roller cleaner to condition them.

 | Re: Phaser 8200 print shifting down by meatavious (7/3/09 8:34 PM) reply | + / - | So after the service tech came and verified that the rollers, belts and clutches were okay, I realized that the media selection tab was in the middle hole on the tray rather than the top. The machine was thinking it had A4, but when I put it back into the top hole, the machine asked for A4 paper. The media selection sensors got mixed up somehow.
I put some tape over both the top and middle hole to "confuse" the machine. I printed something, which expectedly jammed, then did a NVRAM reset with the tab in the correct hole. Fixed the issue.
