replacing toner cartridge by busybody (3/16/09 7:56 PM) reply + / -
Minolta magicolor 2300 won't allow printing, says black cartridge is empty, but it won't allow me to change the cartridge either. clicking on replace toner cartridge will not respond so cartridge will not rotate so I can get it out. Is there a manual way?

I'm not familiar with the 2300 carousel mechanism. To hazard a guess, I'd look for a solenoid somewhere on top. Probably on the right side of the carousel. It would be on the gear side. What happens is the solenoid has a plate that stops the carousel rotation. When the printer wants it to rotate, the solenoid pulls the plate in and lets it go. If you can find said solenoid and plate, you can manually push the plate up with a screwdriver.

open all covers, remove any paper, whats stack inside, remove waste toner box, drum unit then open 2 nipple screws and pull out the transfer pelt, if the belt looks ok, reinstall everything and power on again. if works, then everything is ok, if not, then there is something wrong with TBU or TBU

Navigate through the menu of your laser printer using the keypad. Choose "Replace Toner."Select the cartridge that you want to replace .The selected cartridge will rotate to the inside front of the printer.dislodge the cartridge for removal. shake new cartridge gently. Remove the protective tape.Insert the new cartridge into the laser printer.

Power the printer off.Open the top cover on the printer.Remove the old toner by pulling up and away from the printer. remove the rip strip from the new cartridge. If you do not remove this strip the printer will only print blank sheets.Place the new cartridge into the printer the same way the old unit came out. This is the easiest wqay to replacing toner in manual way.
