HP LaserJet 1320

My HP LaserJet 1320 is giving me a flashing amber light only. I checked HP's site and it says that means paper jam or open door. However, i have THOROUGHLY checked all the doors and jam locations and even reloaded the paper probably 10 times with different amounts.

I have done a cold reset, powered in on and off about 25 times, no luck.

Please Help!!

Does the motor turn when you switch the printer on?

If it does, the printer is not detecting paper in the cassette or the toner cartridge.

If it doesn't the printer has detected a paper jam (most likely) or the door open.

With the power on open the toner door and close it. Do you hear the motor turn and the rollers in the output bin turn. If they do, then the printer thinks the paper tray is empty or the toner cartridge is missing. If that is the case put a sheet of paper on the manual feeder and see if it comes to ready. If it does and prints it means the paper out sensor flag has moved from it correc position next to the pickup roller. If you still have the error check the little paperclip like items in the toner cavity that mate with the toner cartridge. If one is bent wrong or to one side the printer will think the toner cartridge is missing. If the motor does not turn it means the printer thinks there is a jam. It can be an actual jam or it can be a sensor flag stuck in the wrong postion making the printer think there is a jam.

You will be able to hear the motor turning the gears and toner cartridge. Also the rollers where the paper normally comes out should turn.

If the motor is not turning and the amber light is flashing, the most likely reason is the printer detecting a paper jam.

If you have this symptom.
Check under the toner cartridge.
Open the rear door and check in the fuser.
Remove the paper tray and check in the drop down duplex tray.
The tiniest piece of paper can cause a jam message.

Ok, the motor is not starting, i guess i will check to see if there is a jam.

The printer had been working, but turned it on one day and found this error.
