Laserjet 2200

Hello I have a HP laserjet 2200 printer. When I tried to print to it, the printer sounds like it will print the document but after a few seconds the red LED lights solidly and then it stops printing. I've seen other posts but they mention that all three lights stay on. This happens from tray 1 & 2 and I can't print a configuration page. I have purchased and installed the HP Laserjet 2200 Deluxe Feed Roller Kit but it didn't make a difference. Thanks

This is a formatter issue. Do this:While pushing the power button push the engine test button on the EC PCB at the rear, right. Small grey button. If test prints the Main bd is ok.

Thanks for replying I did what you said but the same thing happened. The printer started up and sounds like it's going to print but after approx. 15 seconds the red light comes on. No print, no paper moved out of the tray. richrose23

First question is when you turn on the printer do 3 lights cycle two green and the back amber. Sometimes does led lights break off so you may only have the amber light. Now when you turn on the printer does the motor turn, yes or no?

When the printer is turned on 3 lights cycle, two green and one red. When the lights finish cycling one green stays on until I try to print then I get the red light. Yes the motor turns. richrose23

I'd say sticky solenoid

With the noise occuring, it may be the p/u roller shaft is broken. remove it and look at the right end. The combo gear may have slipped. Gotta remove the gear train for that.

Before I take apart my printer, I have a question: I also can't print from tray 1, same symptoms. When printing from tray 1 is it using the same p/u roller? If not, I don't think the shaft is broken. richrose23

Different rollers. Did you check and see if you have a piece of paper stuck in the duplexer? Take out the tray, on the left side is a plastic lever, pull it and the duplexer access cover drops down.

What happens if you disconnect the printer from the computer and press the button for a self test. Same reaction or what?

This printer is my network printer, not attached to a PC. I disconnected the network cable but couldn't print a self test.
