Process for resetting chip for HP 2600?? by ruppertm (11/27/06 11:45 AM) reply + / -
I have a HP Laserjet 2600. What is the procedure for resetting the smart chip or computer software, after I refill my own toner cartridges?? Thanks in advance for your response.

Also there are a number of aftermarket toner sellers on the WWW. Can I assume that they are comparable to the OEM HP toner in color, quality, etc.??

MR

My recommendation is keep buying the OEM toner.

I've seen too many problems with refilled color cartridges, and the colors just don't come out right.

Hewlett Packard introduced the next generation of chips in the HP 2600. They have overengineered this cartridge in an effort, I suspect, to inhibit those who choose to remanufacture such cartridges. The chemical toner used in these cartridges is microfine and unless the cartridge is remanufactured using exacting techniques, the toner will leak into your printer. The stuff is like water, if there is any loose seal in the cartridge the toner will find a way out. Bottom line, don't buy this cartridge in the aftermarket. Stick with the OEM for now. Give the aftermarket another 6 months to master this cartridge. The exception is the black toner cartridge Q6000A, which uses a toner with larger particles and is less likely to leak. Nah, just buy OEM, not worth it.

If you do experience leaking in your printer, simply use a DRY! lint free cloth and gently wipe off the transfer belt (black belt on the inside of the printer door) This will remedy 90% of all leaks.

Good Luck!

It's going to get worse. Rumor has it that the next generation of chips are going to be of the type used in satellite TV boxes, in other words hack proof. They certainly aren't making all those profits selling printers. They're going to make damn sure they make all the profits on the cartridges by making them so they can't be recycled. So much for the "save the earth" campaign.

I REFILL A COLOR TONER FOR HP 2600 IS LEAKING. I LOOKED AT THE CARTRIDGE AND I COULDN'T FIND A LEAK. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO ENSURE THAT IT WON'T LEAK? THE PRINT OUT HAS YELLOW LINES ALL OVER THE PAGE. ANY SUGGESTION?

Did ya read the posts? Unless you are willing to undergo the learning curve to reman your own cartridge, just buy OEM or save a few dollars and buy professionally remanufactured toners.
