 | HP LaserJet 4500/4550 Drum Eprom content by hicirstal2002 (8/29/06 3:30 AM) reply | + / - | The EEPROM from HP LJC 4500 is 93C46 (64x16 bit). The content is: 0000 00D3 01FC 0200 002F 1505 3F02 0002 1648 0002 9BDA 0000 00CF 0000 00D3 01FC 0200 002F 1505 3F02 0002 1648 0002 9BDA 0000 00CF 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0002 4604 0002 BE2D 0000 0000 0259 006D 0000 0000 0000 ... 0000 I clean my Drum Kit, but I need to reset the counter of pages from Drum Cartridge. Please tell me where is the word with counter of pages. If I know where is the counter of pages I can modify to EEPROM.

01005E073C06000257000515023F0200 48160200DA9B0000CF0001005E073C06 000257000515023F020048160200DA9B 0000CF00000000000000000000000000 00006BF90100A81500000000CB001400 00000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000
FYI - Comparison of both sets of data indicates some byte positions swapped. You may have Byte Swap enabled on your programmer.
I think the data coding is a little more complicated than just changing a few bytes. It appears that they store the data 2 times and have a checksum.
It would probably be easier to read a new drum. I plan on doing this next time I actually replace one, but did not want to open a new one and dissassemble it. I also thought about ordering one off of eBay just to read it. You can get two for around $10 delivered.

 | Re: Re: HP LaserJet 4500/4550 Drum Eprom content by Anonymous (5/29/07 9:00 PM) reply | + / - | I had some parts so made up a simple eeprom programmer and programed an extra eeprom that I pulled from an old modem as i didn't want to mess up a working chip. Jdoshier's data worked perfectly and showed as 58% remaining life. Can anyone post the data from a new eeprom that will reset the chip back at 100% remaining life. I realize the drum should be emptied if reprogramming the drum.

 | Re: HP LaserJet 4500/4550 Drum Eprom content by rohmell (1/4/08 4:43 PM) reply | + / - | Has anyone tried using the drum without the eeprom installed? I have read that if the clock pin is lifted (pin #2) it displays "drum error, replace kit", but it still prints, but for how long, I don't know. So theoretically you can print with a disabled eeprom, then if it stops printing completely, just enable the eeprom, and you would be back to the point at with you left off before disabling.

@mie : the chip may work, but as far as i know the 8500 Drums use a different page count?
Does anyone have the eeprom content of a brand new 8500 drum ?
