OKIDATA 810e by Alfredo Perez-Da (3/12/02 7:12 PM) reply + / -
HI,
I have an okidata 810e that flashes a message CHG DRUM. The drum was replaced maybe two toner cartridges ago and the print quality is still excellent with no smudges or anything. Any ideas what might be going on? How do I reset the message if the quality is still good and has had so little use? I don't see the point in replacing it as long as the quality is good... (plus it probably is not worth it anyway, I might as well get a new or maybe lightly used heavyduty printer like HP4 which can be had for about the cost of the drum on ebay)
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

The message is there because the last time you replaced the drum you forgot to reset the counter.

To reset the counter. Turn off the printer, hold down the menu key and power on the printer at the same time. Continue holding down the menu button until you see user maint, let go of the button. hit menu button 3 times till you see drum cnt reset, hit enter, then online.

This will clear the message.
Have a great day.
