Line down right side of paper Canon LC5000 by Seacoastrising (1/11/06 2:03 PM) reply + / -
I would like to know how to fix an issue I am having with my canon Laser Class 5000 fax. When I out puts the paper it has a none printable line about 1/4 inch wide down the right half of the paper. How can I fix it?

You can try and take the cartridge out a gently shake it side to side and see if that helps. Sometimes the toner gets to one side of the cartridge and it will not print.

Thank you for the reply. I tried tho shake the old toner and even replaced the toner with a new one and no change. The unprintable are is in the same place. Any more ideas?

Most likely cause would be something blocking the laser from shining on the cartridge drum. 1/4" is too wide for dust particles, so it would probably be a scrap of paper. The toner cartridges have a slot at the top that the laser shines into. If you check the area directly above it you might see the offending object.

Thanks again for the tip. I also tried that and it is the led on the top of the toner cartrige that I chacked an even took out of its caseing to clean up. There is not obstructions there. That is when I wrote to this posting. Is there any thing else I can try? Or maybe replace to fix this unit.
