Can anyone help? I am using Powerbook G4 with OS9 running in OSX. I have downloaded new drivers for both for my Samsung ML-1210 laser printer. When I try to print with SimpleText or any other OS9 application I get the message "Serial port in use by another application. Close other application and try again". I have used Chooser to select printer, disabled AppleTalk and have no other application running. Any help would be most appreciated - Michael M
mdmallinson: It sounds like your problem is in your Mac Computer System, rather than in your actual printer. In that case, you may need to get help from a Mac trained computer technician/person, rather than an actual printer technician, on this Printer Repair Site. Generally speaking, we work on the actual printer problems, printer cable problems and printer driver related problems, but not on the actual computer system related problems, on this fixyourownprinter repair site. You must use the system 9 driver in system 9 otherwise it won't recognise the printer in system 9 and responds only to the use of the USB in the system 10.
Realise its an old post but I still use this printer on the system 9 of my G4 and it might help someone else.
