You want to make sure that in this printer you close the front door half way to move the swing cartridge assembly out of the way so that you can access paper stuck in the registration assembly of the paper input. There is also a green thumb wheel that you can turn to try to feed paper through. Remember that this printer is not very forgiving if you try to force paper out and you do not follow the steps in the user's manual. If the paper unit gets damaged it is the hardest part (major dissasembly) in this printer to replace. Plus,if you force the front door closed you will damage or brake engaging rack and other plastic pieces associated with it.Believe me,we have taken many calls for this. Print and read the user's manual! If you do not have a users manual email me and I will send you one. This also goes for it's little brother the 3500 color laserjet.

You could also have a toner cartridge issue where the drum in the cartridge or wiper blade is defective. If you can post a scan of the defect it would be helpful.
