HP 9000 13.2 jam in left door by moe (3/25/05 12:09 PM) reply + / -
I was just visiting a friends shop and he has a 9000 in there that he's been working on for a few days. He's checked the sensors, replaced the DC controller and the fuser. 13.2 jam in left door message is displayed all the time. I took a quick look at it, but haven't got any idea beyond what he's already tried. Anyone got any ideas on this one?

David, thanks for the service note. It was very insightful. I forwarded it to him. I'll let you know how it goes.

Is there possibly any residual scraps of paper buried in the duplexer?

Also, please share whatever David just gave you! :)

Has the HV PSU (high voltage psu) been removed??

I really fail to see what a HV power supply has to do with the problem. HV doesn't even come into play until you actually send a print job. Never heard of door sensors working on high voltage. Maybe you know something I don't.

The previous comment made by Moe about the HV psu is completely wrong in this case.....
The HV psu on the HP 9000 has 2 metal contacts that feed back to the Fuser unit and send small signals as the Fuser sensor flag wavers. If these two contacts are not positioned correctly then the above error "WILL" be produced...
SO CHECK THESE CONTACTS....

That's actually suggested in the service manual and did not resolve the problem. Also tried a new formatter board as well to no avail. The error is always present. I just spoke to him and printer is still sitting on his bench.

HP 9000: front door or left door open. by JR (12/22/05 9:41 PM) reply+1 + / -
A customer called me about an hp 9000dn displaying front door or left door open. Another technician has already visited the machine and changed the door switch and dc controller. I would really appreciate any insight that anyone can give me. Thanks...

Has someone checked to make sure the plastic protusion which activates the switch has not been broken off or bent.

Yes. That was my first thought initially.

Go to the diagnostics menu and perform the service test. Make sure you have trays 2 and 3 open. Report back any codes except 0000.

Found codes: 0101, 0102, 0103, 0109 & 0110.

That indicates according to the service manual that there are problems with the PIU and the registration assembly meaning both will probably have to be replaced.
