 | HP laserjet1100 printing regular stripes by linguist (1/18/05 6:25 PM) reply | + / - | I am experiencing some problems with my printer. It prints horizontal stripes, 1/4 " wide. First stripes is 1" from top, then 2 others at 3" apart, and final one 1" from bottom. Cartridge is ok. Any clue specific to this printer? Thanks.

It is strange to have a line all the way accross the page if the fuser is the issue. You do not say if you get regular print with the lines also. There is a big difference. If all you get are lines and no other print, it could be the laser/scanner, high voltage or even transfer roller. If you get print with the lines, then the toner, the fuser or the other items can be the issue. If the later is the case do a half test. Print a test page and when the paper is about 2/3 of the way in open the toner door to stop the printing. Pull out the toner and look at the image behind the toner. If the lines are there it is toner or high voltage or laser/scanner. If the lines are not there it is the fuser. Good Luck.

I printed a test page as suggested and I'm not sure if I'm getting it right, but when I open the cover, what was already printed showed lines and what was behind the toner no. So, the fuser might be the problem. Can I change it myself?

The only thing which concerns me is I have never seen a bad teflon cover cause a horizontal line accross the whole page. Maybe Moe can shed some light. You will have to email Moe@fixyourownprinter.com for kit details since it is not on the site at present, but I know he has one. You should also refer him to this link or use post number 26671 so he can look it up.
