I had the 5100 error after printing THREE pages out of the box.
Upon closer inspection, based on the above posts, I noticed that there was something stuck in there, but an out of the box item.
If you are facing the printer and lift up the top to expose the printer cartridges, in the upper right hand corner there was a little protective strip black plastic strip that had a pull tab on the end.
