Is this the right door jam? If so, have you checked the pick-up rollers. I had this happen on a machine after I had changed the rollers, but didn't get one of them seated properly, which caused it to slip on the paper. Since the paper sensor behind the door did't sense any paper, the machine assumed a jam. If the rollers were slick, than you might have the same problem. I hope this helps. Have a nice day!!!

No movement, not even attempting to pick paper up -- does not get to ready status--
just reports the 13.20.00 jam.. 100% no paper stuck in sensors...

Re: HP 9000 13.20.00 PAPERJAM ERROR by Anonymous (7/21/05 1:30 AM) reply + / -
I had the same error. replaced the fuser and some of the paper sensors. I replaced the Paper Transfer Assy, with no success. Well, then I dissconnected the wires to the Paper Transfer Assy and turnes the power on. And the engine started up and the error was gone.

I discovered that the sensor in the midle of the Paper Transfer Assy was pulled back by an iron piece. The iron piece had turned 180 degrees wrong.

I turned the piece back to its place, and everything is okej.

Problem: 13.20.00 Jam inside left door. There is no paper jam. There is a pink roller that is covered with a clear thin plastic coating. One of the rollers has dug into this roller & the plastic is peeling & the printer thinks there is a jam. Do you have any suggestions?

Re: HP 9000 13.20.00 PAPERJAM ERROR by dmzcompute (11/23/05 1:14 PM) reply + / -
The left side door is the fuser door. Are you referring to the fuser. If you are then you will need to replace the fusing unit. It is a consumable item, pricey but consumbable. That is the item which gets very hot since it binds the toner to the paper. If that is not what you are referring to, then give us a better description for additional help.

Re: HP 9000 13.20.00 PAPERJAM ERROR by OPT (4/19/06 2:55 PM) reply + / -
We have a customer with the same problem, except, when we start the printer it gives a 13.20 error right away in the front door. open close the door then it goes to the right door, then the left door. After that it stays in the left door. We have replaced the fuser, high voltage power supply, and DC controller. I have cold reset the printer, resat the pm count, and nothing works. :(

Re: HP 9000 13.20.00 PAPERJAM ERROR by dmzcompute (4/19/06 3:19 PM) reply + / -
Go to the document I posted above. Usually there is a shred of paper blocking a sensor flag and keeping it in the wrong position. Most common place is to open the right side door lift up the green handle and with a flashlight shine it in and look for that shred.

dmzcompute:
I printed out the document you posted above. I have gone through each and every step and there is nothing in the paper path. My tech has swapped parts from other printers. Nothing. I sent the printer to an HP certified center and they too could not fix it. We are so stumped here. We had the printer down to the bare shell just about and blew out all the sensors.

When we close the left door and it trys to go through its cycle we hear what appears to be a sticky selanoid popping or somthing. It pops and then gives the error.

Go to the diagnostics menu and show the event log. Report any errors that are not 13.20.00.

Re: HP 9000 13.20.00 PAPERJAM ERROR by OPT (4/20/06 7:02 AM) reply + / -
wierd thing happend. we put a DC controller from another 9000 into the bad one and still got the 13.20 Put the DC controller back into the printer that was working fine and that printer got the 13.20 Could not clear it. So we replaced the DC controller in the good printer and it works fine. We put a new DC controller in the bad printer and still 13.20. Strangest thing.

Re: HP 9000 13.20.00 PAPERJAM ERROR by dmzcompute (4/20/06 11:25 AM) reply + / -
You may be looking at a bad power supply which is blowing the dc controllers. I would replace the power suppy before attempting to put in another dc controller. It is possible the new dc controller is now fried.

Re: HP 9000 13.20.00 PAPERJAM ERROR by OPT (4/20/06 2:03 PM) reply + / -
Thanks dmzcompute

It is very possable that the new dc controller is fried. I am going to order a new power supply and a new DC contrller today and let you guys know the status tomorrow. :)

I have read that the high voltage cotacts for the toner cart, can cause this error if bent the wrong direction. Something to do with being in line with the fuser wrap sensor.

Re: Re: HP 9000 13.20.00 PAPERJAM ERROR by Anonymous (8/14/06 8:19 AM) reply + / -
To clarify my above post about HV contacts and the toner cart. Bent springs "under" the HV Power Supply can get bent when reinstalling the PS and cause 13.20 errors. Sorry--Should have looked it up and not relied on my old reel to reel tape type memory.

when you remove hvps you dislocated two springs to the fuser. that cause error 13.20. cheers // L

Simple, remove the back cover, remove the HVPS and confirm that all the spring contacts are present, reattach HVPS making sure to the proper seating of all spring contacts and viola! No more 13.20 error.

August 23, 2007_The Migrating 13.20 ERROR! by lordodin (8/23/07 7:19 AM) reply + / -
I'm working on a HP 9000 MFP that displays a 13.20 error as soon as it starts up. As, I have read most of the posts relating to this problem, mine seems to be right in line. It starts with a jam at the front door, in which case I turn the jam knob, close the door, and then it moves to the left door and stays at the left door. I have pulled the HVPS and checked the leaf springs which were fine, I've done this no less than 3 times in fact. I have checked the sensor on the fuser which is perfect, I have checked the duplexer, Trays 1,2,3,and 4. I have removed everything associated with the entire paper path, including the right door, the PIU, the registration assembly, and God only knows what else. I have also, disconnected and reconnected all of the cables leading to the DC controller, and have even removed the DC Controller itself with no success. Short of replacing parts, nothing that I have done has worked. I read a post from OPT and he said that they replaced the DC controller, the HVPS, and the fuser with no success. I have ordered a DC Controller but I'm skeptical if it will work. Does anyone know of any updates to this weird little problem. Is the culprit behind this a faulty Power Supply? Somebody....anybody....help!

Go to this web site

I had the same problem, however this news letter did not help. In my printer I had to replace the wiring harness because the duplexer would not work. After replacing the harness, I got 13.20 paper jam. After two days of head pounding, and two new DC controllers, a new fuser, and other replacments. I found that the new wiring harness was defective and had a couple of nicks in the insulation and were shorting out. It blew up two DC controllers. I put another wiring harness in and another DC controller to finally fix the problem. I found the problem after taking one of the DC controllers and installing it on another 9000 printer and it came up with the 13.20 jam. So, something had to have been blowing up the DC controllers. The only thing I had replaced before the error was the wiring harness. Lesson learned, don't trust parts made in China!!!!

have same problem on lj9000.... ghost 13.20 error...replaced dc controller and low voltage ps at same time... error gone and test prints good...reattached 2000 sheet feeder and blew dc controller again... replaced controller and tested w/o 2000 sheet feeder installed... ok bootup.....ran tests on 2000 sheet feeder and passed all tests...left 2000 sheet feeder lead off on dc controller while testing feeder...J218 on controller board...left power off on 2000 sheet feeder while reseting J218 on dc controller to prevent fan failure... but blew dc controller again....!! residual capacitor voltage from 2000 sheet feeder power supply or paper controller board on 2000 sheet feeder????dead again!! Do I need to replace all boards at same time?? Thanks for any posible solutions.

Exit Face down Assy. flags may be sticking. Clean! Everything!
Paper dust, and regular debris from the environs cause lots of troubles.

did that... found out second power up after replacing DC controller and board bad again.....had installed new controller and ran test print 360 dbl sided pages.... no prolems, or errors and lead edges good on prints...powered down... removed 120 volt power cord... reset back panel...reset 120 volt cord...turned on machine...13:20:00 back again... if a short in a cable somewhere. why not on first power up doesn't the trouble occur???why on shot down and restart?

Check the registration assembly.
There are 2 clutches that have tines that in time bust right through their "home".
Home is when the tines stradle a plastic piece.

Yes, it could be the wiring harness. I had the same problem. Only on the second time powering up the machine would give me the 13.20 error. It worked fine after DC controller was replaced and first time powering up. Tested great. Then you shut it off and turn it on, Bam! 13.20 error.

I have replaced two DC controllers

Re: HP 9000 13.20.00 PAPERJAM ERROR by corbin (11/2/07 5:50 AM) reply + / -
You need to replace the wiring harness and DC controller at the same time. You might have a pinched wire that keeps blowing the DC controller. I have had this problem and was able to find the pinched wire. It was a cable tie that was simply too tight which caused the insulation on some of the wires to wear off and short them out. You also need to check the high voltage contacts on the printer that go to the fuser wrap jam sensor. This too will cause 13.20 error no matter how many times you replace the DC contoller. Test the DC contollers on another machine to verify if they are bad before ordering another one. If you had the problem only after the second time powering up after replacing the DC controller, then you have a bad wiring harness.

The latch which causes the pickup rollers to drop in my 2000 sheet tray was broken. The tray would lift, but the rollers were not resting in a position to pick. The printer would fail with a jam in accessory error and ask me to open the right door. It was actually a pain to track this down, because the latch is small and flimsy and it was hard to notice it was broken. Hope this helps someone some day.

Cheers

hey all i have hp 9000 laserjet and i get an error on the panel
no specific error numbert just open right or front door and it obiviously closed i even power cycled the printer still nothing any help thanks i am thinking taking it apart could be a sensor?

Re: Re: HP 9000 Open left door /front door by kprinterman (7/2/08 1:56 PM) reply + / -
the wire that controls the front door switch is connected to the dc controller and it also runs to the low voltage make sure plugged in on both sides. if it is it could be a bad or pinched wiring harness the wires are easly pinched. the acuator switch for the front door and the back door are the same switch located inside left door up front. never seen one go bad but it is posssible anything is possible with these nightmares. hope this helps. Remember K.I.S.S.

Check the latch were the left side door closes. There is a door latch switch that can get stuck. Try playing around with that. I see you have not replaced the fuser will if you did fine if not try replacing fuser.. Hope it helps

hp 9000 13-20-00 error code is from dc controller, verison 1.60 and below will cause this trouble. the reason is the controller looks at the press roller to see if there is paper raped around it. the newer version dc controller 1.60 and 2.00 will get rid of this code.

Re: Re: Re: HP 9000 Open left door /front door by Anonymous (11/20/09 9:35 AM) reply + / -
The solution for some of the postings for the error referring to "Front or Left door Open," may be the microswitch on the Fuser Delivery Drive Assembly. It appears that a keeper on an actuator that closes a micro-switch may be easily broken. This particular unit actually had a broken actuator. Replacing the Fuser Delivery Drive Assembly was not in the manual, but was not that difficult. Remove Control Panel, both top covers, the left back corner trim, and the exit assembly, (4 gold and 2 silver screws). This exposes the Fuser Delivery Drive Assembly at the left top front of the unit. You can then see the switch that seems to be operated by both the front and left door (?), (have not had time yet to study the operation). Open the front door, and remove three screws on the inside from panel in a wide triangle pattern around the lever that raises the toner cart. Remove two cable connectors, and it should pull away for the side, where it can then be removed. Got a start on this problem from a hint from postings by kprinterman and Anonymous. An examination of the physical actuator did show that it was physically off its mountings, and loose. Replacement of the Fuser Delivery Drive Assembly solved the problem. Hope that helps with some of the "Open Left Door/Front Door" problems. Thanks to you kprinterman and Anonymous. And thanks for this forum.

Were you able to get the latch or did you have to get the pickup assembly? I got a part # off the plastic but of course googling it comes back with nothing. RB2-7815.

It seems a shame to replace a $200 part for a .59$ peice of plastic.

Thanks

Indeed, it was a piece of paper in the printer somewhere, I guess that was stuck between the rollers on the right side of the printer, I experimented by placing another fuser and after cold restart, I get by a sheet to mark me the error in the door jam rerecha, opening the door I realized along with the blade was stuck a small piece of paper from a previous jam, and then place the original susor and it worked. luck maybe my experience will serve.
