And from nowhere it started giving a flushing red light on the Triangle icon on the printer. I checked and there is no paper jam, nor is there any tray open, and the caterlage is there.

If not it means there is a jam or a sensor flag in the wrong postion telling the printer there is a jam. If the motor does not turn it means you most llkely have a problem with the formatter or main board. One thing you can try is to hold down the big button for at least 20 seconds as you apply power to see if that will reset the printer. Also if you have a network card installed or extra memory I would remove them. You will also want to disconnect the printer from the computer by removing the cable at the printer. If holding the big button does nothing try holding the small button on power on for at least 20 seconds and see if that helps. One of those buttons held will cause a NVRAM reset so if you have a network card in the printer it to will be reset. Remember if the motor does not turn it is a sensor issue and none of the button holding will help.

Yes the motor does turn when I lift up the toner door and put it back down.
I have also tried your solution, but the red light next to the triangle with an exclamtion mark continues tp flash red.
I have disconnected the printer and removed the Jetdirect network card.

Check for papers here.
If not then probably a sensor/sensor arm got stuck. can't remember the name on it, but it's a common error.
Check hp pages, should be papers on it. You may need to replace the arm.

In other words the green ready light does not stay on but rather goes to the attention light. If that is the case and you tried everything above, it is either the formatter or the main board. Most common is the formatter. If it goes to ready and does it when you send a print job either your pickup in the tray is not working or the sensor which detects paper in the manual tray is pushed in (most common is the spring has poped out) and the printer thinks there is paper in the manual feeder. Easy to tell, just put paper on the manual feeder and see if it prints. If it does that is your problem. Good Luck.

It says that the printing was paused and when I hit resume printing and error message said Operation could not be completed and that access is denied. I have unplugged the printer from the cpu and cut to power off. Still nothing.

If so, it could be the pickup roller shaft for the tray has shifted to the right and no longer locks in the pickup roller. There is a plastic clip which sometimes loosens and the shaft moves. Hard to repair as all the parts on the right side to include the drive train needs to be removed. It could also be the selenoid which controls the movement of the pickup roller is bad and does not release the pickup roller. Another very common issue is the sensor flag in the manual tray has the spring come off or move and the flag is stuck towards the back of the printer and the printer thinks there is paper in the manual feeder and always tries to pickup paper from that tray and not the lower tray.

There are three lights and all of them should cycle when the printer is first turned on. If only the red light cyles when you turn on the printer, it means the other two are not working and the printer can not give you the fatal error code of all three lights on when the error happens. If the scanner replacment solves the issue then it means there was nothing wrong with the selenoid.

When you send a print job are you trying to draw paper from the paper tray or manual feeder? If from the paper tray, try putting paper on the manual feeder and tell us what happens. If you error out what do you mean. Just the amber trouble light come on or do all three lights come on solid. If all three light, press both buttons at the same time and let us know what the light pattern changes to. From what you have told us so far no one can help you. Information, information and information.

Turn the printer of and remove the paper tray.
Lay it on it's right side.
The are to clips/collars on either side of the roller.
Rotate them 1/4 turn towards the bottom of the printer and one will slide out of the printer and the other up the shaft.
DO NOT LET THE MAIN SHAFT MOVE TOO MUCH OR IT MAY BECOME DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAIN DRIVE (BAD DESIGN).
THE REPLACEMENT ROLLER WILL ONLY FIT IN ONE WAY - THE SLOTS ARE DIFFERENT DEPTHS.

Thanks to the guy that found the scanner being the cause, I changed out the scanner and unit works fine.

You have to take the formatter out and reallign shaft with pickup roller gear and spring. You have to remove-toner cartridge, dim cover rear cover top cover, left cover,eio card, formatter, pwoer supply and print drive assembly. Reallign and should start printing without the noises.

Now turn it on and see if it comes to ready. If it does, press both buttons to print a config sheet. If the sheet feeds and prints the config report, remove the driver on the computer for this printer. Now connect the printer and turn on the computer and reload the driver and see what happens.

If the noise starts shortly after you send the print command and continues for a little while after the paper comes out, that's the scanner motor bearings. Contrary to what the name "maintenance kit" implies, there is nothing in there that will fix the problem.

Does the sound wind up gradually to a high pitched whine, and then wind down slowly? (as in several seconds after the main motor stops turning and the rollers are no longer moving the sound persists)
That is caused by a noisy Laser/Scanner motor.

If it's an annoying squeak that occurs whenever the delivery rollers are turning it's likely due to a lubrication problem with the delivery rollers, (there was a service note on this, but it expired long, long ago... in a galaxy... wait, that's another story).

What is weird is that it does not do it every single time. It does it more times than it does not do it. And its loud not just a little tiny peep.
If it is in fact the scanner motor what are my options? New printer or is this someting that can be fixed/replaced?
Where and how do you get to the service rollers? How would you lubricate them?
I work on PC's all day long, but my printer service abilities are limited (but I'm willing to learn).

Before you do anything else please try feeding from tray 1 and tell us if the noise is the same, (fold down tray).
You might print the configuration page while you are doing this so you can tell us the page count, (hold down the little button, push and release the big button, let go of the little button).
To get to the delivery rollers you need to remove the cover.
It's genarally better to replace them, HP sells a kit with all the needed parts.

The problem with lubrication is that most people get carried away, they grab a spray can of WD-40, (at that point they have made two mistakes), and lubricant gets places it should not be.
If you lube anything in a printer you should use a light silicone or synthetic oil, apply it sparingly, (1-2 drops), and wipe off excess, (yes, even if you only applied 2 drops).
Oil migrates, it can eventually get on the rollers, rubber and oil do not get along well. Oil and plastic do not like petroleum based lubricants, (read the label close on that WD-40 you keep thinking about).

I have tried printing from both trays 1 (manual) and 2. Neither will feed paper. I have checked everywhere for a jam including the drop down that is above tray 2, no jams. I see that another user was able to fix his by replacing the scanner. Am I having the same problem?

First thing you want to do is cancel the job. Next go into the printer properties and temporarily change the dpi of the job from 600 to either 300 or 150 which should enable the job to print. If you constantly get this type of error, then you should think of maybe adding some additional ram to the printer. If you get this error with just trying to print a test page, then it is possible you have some bad memory on the formatter board in which case the formatter will need to be replaced.

If so, I have this problem when I try to print a test page as well. Also the ladies that use the printer told me that it started making loud scraping noises before the solid amber condition started. When you turn on the printer there are 3 lights which should cycle. 2 green and 1 amber. If you see the green lights cycle, then your error is a memory overflow and the formatter is bad. I assume the test print you are doing is by pressing the big button on the printer for a couple of seconds. If not do it and see if a test page prints. If the green lights do not come on, then it will be very difficult to diagnose since part of the secondary error code will most likely be one of those lights. If the green lights do not cycle, then when the solid amber light comes on, press both buttons and tell us if the amber light stays on or goes out.

I did one using the large button and it started cycling all three lights, fed a piece of paper part way, then started feeding it a 1/4 inch at a time, the paper has not printing on it. The whole time it does this all three light flash in sequence. then it goes back to a solid green light (the middle light). the other two lights are off.

Reason is the middle green light is the data received light and always lights as the printer is receiving data or will stay on solid if data is in the buffer and something is preventing it from printing. One thing you can try is a NVRAM reset which may or may not work. Turn off the power. Now hold down the go button (big button in front) and turn the power on and hold the button down until all three lights come on solid. Release the button and the printer should then start cycling the lights until it comes to ready. At this point I would try the test page again and this time make sure the cable from the computer is NOT connected. If you get the same reaction, then the formatter is toast and needs to be replaced. If you now get a good test page, turn off the printer, reattach the computer cable, turn back on and try again.

| Re: Re: HP Laserjet 2200D error by slaglema (12/21/06 6:51 AM) reply | + / - | This took care of two of my printers. The feeding 1/4 inch at a time seems to be a cleaning sheet of som e kind. I get this sheet by holding the go button for 15 seconds and then releasing.
Once I did the reset on the third 2200 and tried to print a test page using the go button I get a medium pitch humming noise, that I would describe as rubber moving against something that is not moving. All three lights come on solid at this point when I hold job cancel and go the go light turns off and the attention and ready lights stay on solid.
I did some searching around and was not able to find this light pattern on this site or on HP. If you could point me in the right direction on this issue I would appreciate it.

I had a quick look at the printer and none of the lights were on. I check all cables...nothing. I unplugged everything, counted to 30, plugged everything back in...nothing. I changed the power cable, just in case...nothing. I can't get the thing to power up. Very strange.
Any help would be great.

There are a couple of fuses on the board, but I have never seen one without power that had a fuser blown. If you hear the fan, then you may want to remove the right side cover and disconnect the formatter and then power on and see if the motor turns. If it does, then press the engine test button towards the back on the right side and if it prints out a page with lines, then the formatter is the issue. If no motor movement, then the ECU or main board is bad. The only other thing which I am sure you did would be to plug a lamp into the socket the printer was attached and make sure there is juice at the socket.

There is no noise. I checked the plug and all is well. So, if it's the ECU or main board, is it worth getting repaired, or should I just get a new printer? If it's a pretty simple task I can try it myself, I just don't know where I would get a printer board.

Most times printers of this model on ebay are there because of bad fusers, formatters or scanners. Having the ecu board go bad is rare but it happens. Not an easy task to replace either since a lot has to come off.

When I use it, it pulls multiple sheets of paper and jams. If I use heavier paper, it seem to jam less. Do I need to replace a pick up roller? help!

You can test by just switching the trays from the one on the unit to the one you just purchased and the mulitple sheets should now occur from tray 2. If you click on the 2100 then it shows the 3 kits. I did like many people and just scrolled up to the kits line and then looked, never realizing it was listed above the kit line.

I have the same printer at the office but it always pulls paper from TRAY 2 each time. I've looked all over and can't find a way to configure this. Please advise.

after about 15 seconds all the lights turn on, and stay on, until I turn the printer off.
It went from working perfectly to this, all of a sudden, any thoughts?

There are two places where size and type of paper are stored. One is in the driver where you tell the computer what size and type paper are contained in each tray. The other place is in the printer memory where it is stored based on old dos commands or plj commands which had been sent to the printer and tell it what size paper is in each tray. To see the printer settings just press both buttons at the same time and a configuration page will print and it will tell you what the printer thinks is in each tray. Now so you understand the way this printer works if both trays are set for plain and letter paper for example it will always draw from the lowest tray or highest tray number. As an example lets say you have plain and letter in both trays and both trays are set in the software as having plain and letter it will draw from tray 3 first and when that tray is empty from tray 2. If tray 3 is set in the software as having for example letterhead paper and the job calls for plain letter, then the printer will draw from tray 2.

You need to press both button at the same time and the light pattern will probably change. Report back what is the new light pattern as that will be the error code of what is wrong. All three lights like you got are telling you there is a fatal error and pressing both buttons will tell us the code to tell you what is wrong.

Let the poster report back the code instead of trying to diagnose by sound. If it is indeed the laser/scanner motor, they can sometimes be repaired, but it is best to know EXACTLY what is wrong, not guess at it.

What you need to do is remove the cable from the printer which goes to the computer and turn on the printer and see if it comes to ready. If it does, press the big button to print a test page and if it prints ok it means your issue is the cable which goes to the computer or the port on the computer.

Here's an excerpt:
Printing by Size of Paper
Note For printing by type of paper, see Tray Lock.
You can configure the printer to select paper by size (such as letter or A4), as opposed to source (a paper tray).
If you frequently use several different sizes of paper, once trays are set up correctly using the HP LaserJet Device Configuration, you do not have to check which size is loaded in each tray before you print.
To print by size of paper, do the following:
1. Be sure to adjust and load the trays correctly. (See the sections on loading paper, starting with Loading Media into Tray 1.)
2. From the Tray Setup tab in the HP LaserJet Device Configuration, select the paper size for each tray.
3. From the software or printer driver, select the desired size of paper. From a Windows application, click File and select Page Setup (software) or click File and select Print and then Properties (printer driver).

Use the driver to tell the computer what size paper is in each tray. Example lets say you always use legal paper and your printer has two trays (tray 1 manaul and tray 2). You load the legal paper in tray 2. Go to the driver properties and tell it that tray 2 has legal paper. Also in the driver set the default paper size to legal. That is all you have to do. When you ask to print the default legal paper it will draw from tray 2. If you need to use letter, the you put it on tray 1 and as long as tray 1 is set for letter it will pull from that tray. Hope this helps.

It made a squeaking noise when receiving a print job, and it does not print. It fails to grab a sheet from the tray or from the manual feed. After about 15 seconds all the lights turn on, and stay on, until I turn the printer off.
It went from working perfectly to this, all of a sudden, any thoughts?
I pressed both buttons at the same time and the light pattern changes to red (DS6-attention) and green (DS1-ready), both are lit steady, not blinking. What does this error code mean?
I removed the jet direct card and did a NVRAM reset, didn't help.

The secondary pattern indicates a laser/scanner error, that combined with the squeaking makes it a pretty sure bet that the scanner motor is binding.
DMZ has previously posted a lubrication procedure for the motor, sorry I didn't save the link, but a little forum searching should dig it up.

I have the HP LaserJet 2200DN. I had some problems with it some time ago and it was still under warranty. Basically, it was making a squealing noise. It only took place when the paper started its path through the rollers to come out of the printer. They fixed that problem and for a few years it was great and then it started making that noise again. It still printed but the noise was annoying. Now I can't get it to print at all and the noise is incredibly loud. It almost sounds like something is jammed or the wheels are turning but something is in the way. I read through many of the posts here and I found the duplexing tray and there was nothing there. I have tried the manual tray and the main tray and I get the same loud noise. I have also tried opening the straight paper path door in the back and I still get the loud noise. When I print something, everything starts to run and it looks like it is going to print. Then I get a loud noise and eventually the light with the triangle lights up. I cant get the error to go away unless i turn it off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

One thing that can cause a load noise is the toner cartridge. When the printer is warming up do you hear the noise or only when you go to print? The other question is when you power on the printer there are 3 lights on the right side. The one amber light and two green lights below it. Do those lights come on one after the other when the printer is first turned on? Answer those questions and I may be able to help you. When the triangle light comes on is it solid or blinking. If solid I have a feeling the other two lights are not working and if they did you would get all 3 lights on solid.

yeah. i have the same problem as "anonymous." i worked fine and then all of a sudden it seems to continously print out a document (3 pages long) that i printed out before every time i try to print. now when i print it doesn't even respond anymore. so possibly it could be stuck in the memory? from the status screen on mac it says there is 5mb/16mb left of memory. is there a way to clear the memory if memory is the problem? thanks

Push that and it should print a lined test page. That checks out everything but the formatter board. Formatter boards are easy to replace and I have some in stock. Now when you try print from my computer or do a test print from the printer (holding the big button or even both buttons) itself. It activates like it will print the motor turns and the rollers all seam to roll like normal. But the paper grabber never even attempts to turn in tray 2. I tried with a paper in the manual feeder and it didn’t even attempt to feed that paper either. After running the rollers for about 20seconds it stops with all lights solid. And only way to get it back to normal status is to turn it off and back on but it still wont print.
I tried powering it on while holding the big button for 20seconds and when I let go of the button and pressed it again it picked up a paper and feeds it but feeds it about ½ inch at a time very slowly, but didn’t print anything on it. But it only did this once I have been unable to get it do this a second time.
I am at a loss. Any ideas? Oh yea when I turn it on the normal green light is on. I guess you call it the Ready light.

Both of their PC's see the printer and status. However, trying to send a test page from either one does nothing at all. There are no flashing lights on the top. It just sits there.
I have done the usual things such as delete and re-add the printer, powered off/on and left off by pulling the plug. Reseated the network connection inside the printer and the housing.
Pressing the large button for a self test works and it prints a test page (front & back) fine. The page print itself is clean and crisp.
I am starting to run out of tricks. My next tactic will probably be to take a laptop and plug directly into it and test it.

Looks like a network connectivity issue. Your next tactic is a good starting point to test the printer itself. Run a windows test page from your laptop. If that works, then disconnect your laptop from the printer and connect the network cable.
Print the configuration page. This should show you the IP address for the printer (I'm assuming that you have a DHCP server that dishes out IP addresses). See this link for more information.

Once you get the IP address of the printer, try pinging the printer using PING from the command prompt. If that works, then you just need to configure the users printer port to point to that IP address.

Dustin as to your issue you need to press both buttons when all three lights come on solid and the light pattern may change with both button pressed down. Report back the light pattern with both buttons pressed down after the 3 lights on solid and someone will tell you exactly what is wrong. Most times it is a fuser or laser/scanner issue and the secondary code will tell us which one it is.

When all three lights come on press both buttons and the light pattern should change. Example just tell me the middle light goes out or the top 2 lights go out or whatever. All I need to know is what lights are on and what lights are off when you press both buttons. Just use the format top on middle off and bottom on or top on middle on and bottom off.

out of paper when my wife attempted to print to it, and after I added
paper, all three of the lights went solid. I have done the following:
Unplugged the power for far more than 15 minutes and tried a cold
reset.
Tried multiple cold resets.
Held down the two buttons on the printer after the three lights go
solid, with the result always being that the top two lights remain solid
and the bottom light oges off.
Attempted an engine test after restarting the printer, with the same
results cited above.
I have 24 years in the IT field but have no manual for this printer, as
it (like all of my computers and other printers, are salvaged from
recylcing perdition.
As I am involved with a ministry, there are limited, if any, funds.
I have tried all of the options (save purchasing parts and repairing
the printer myself) found in the Web site.

Ok, I try to print from my 2200D and it makes the printing noises but doesn't pick up paper from the paper tray. I tried feeding the paper manually and that does work. Also the amber light comes on as soon as I turn on the printer. When I open the toner tray lid and close it the green light comes on briefly before the flashing amber light comes on. Can anyone please tell me how I can fix this problem? Thanks.

If not it means there is a paper jam or the printer thinks there is a jam because one of the sensor flags is in the wrong position. If the motor turns, then you most likely have a formatter issue. Could also be a case of the toner cartrdige contacts inside the cavity on the left that look like paper clips one or more is bent out of shape or bent to one side.

That allowed the paper to move backwards so that when the tray was inserted the switch that is pressed by the paper was no longer contacted so the printer thought it was perpetually out of paper. That was at least 9 months ago. So now the printer works but the printing is really light. My guess for this is that the printer cartridge is too old? Should I just buy another printer cartridge? Thanks.

When the back edge of the paper enters the printer, open the top cover quickly to stop printing. Remove the toner and flip back the cover over the drum. If the image on the drum dark or light. If the image is light, then it is the toner cartridge or even possibly the laser/scanner optics. Laser/scanner optics will usually result in different toner densities accross the paper. If the image on the drum is dark then you have a transfer roller or contact with the transfer roller issue.

It started occurring immediately after, while duplex printing, I inadvertently removed a sheet of paper that had been printed on the first side and was waiting for the second side to be printed. By the time it started trying to pull the non-existent sheet back in, it was too late for me to try to feed the sheet back in. (BTW, I had to install the printer using the HP 2000 driver because I am using Windows 98SE and no driver is given for it, even though they do list drivers for Windows 3.1 and I think 95 too.)

I have a LJ 2200 DN that will print one page of a document, and then all three lights come on solid. The error light is amber, and the other two are green (Maybe the LED colors don't change, but I'm including them just in case.) Only way to get out of it is to power-cycle. I pulled the jetdirect out, did a cold reset (turn on while holding GO button for 15 sec), and tried a self-test page, which printed, but then all three lights came on again. Tried different toner cartridge, same result. Turned printer upside down and flipped the lever to release the plate underneath, and can't see any jams or paper stuck anywhere. After the three lights come on, if I press both buttons, the amber light turns off, leaving only the two green lights. HP's "Printer light patterns" page shows this light pattern to be a bad fuser. Is this diagnosis valid for the secondary light pattern, or only for a primary light pattern (before buttons are pressed together)?

That might fix it. You have to be careful when doing so that the lubricant doesn't get flung onto the mirrors and lenses. Then you will have to replace the scanner assy. You can cover them when you first test it. Otherwise, you'll need to replace the laser scanner assy.

I hear the engine running during the test page and after 10 secs or so all 3 lights come on. Then i push the Go and Cancel buttons and the bottom go light goes out. The internal demo page prints fine.
The self test prints fine from HP.
If I send the printer a short text file from Notepad or TextPad, the text file prints fine.
If I send anything more complicated, anything using PCL or PS or ...well anything from an application, the printer hangs. Printing a formatted e-mail...hangs the printer.
....Any help would be appreciated. TIA

I thought about this, and checked the roller that picks up the paper - the oval rubber piece is not rotating to grab paper. I rotated it with my hand as it was trying to print, and I heard a plastic gear grinding noise at one point. I figured a gear was off track or something. I took the side off, took off the board (not sure of the name, it has the memory slots on it). I could see through the holes that the gear for the rod that turns to pick up the paper has a section of the gears missing. It looks like a section (1/4) of the gears are separated from the shaft to allow it to be flexible maybe? but half of this piece broke off, so the gears can't grab each other. I think I have another of this model in the graveyard and will check it to see if I can swap. I'll also try to find a name for this part.

Steady Green READY comes on, then goes off - blinking ATTENTION comes on.
Secondary codes (Cancel & GO buttons presed together) produces the still the blinking ATTENTION LED. I have changed formatters, power boards, Fuser assemblies, Toner cartridges, Paper Trays. Still, the printer thinks it can continue.
Pressing GO will Set the Ready led to GREEN from Blinking Attention, start the motors, but the paper pick-up mechanisms do not activate, either the paper tray or the manual feeder. I have operated the the paper delivery sensor & the motors stop immediately.
The problem symptoms is almost exactly like opening & closing the lid, but then goes back to blinking ATTENTION. Paper should be picked up for printing, but it is not. The solenoids are not being activated to set the paper pick-up in motion.
The lasers (tried two of them with visual holes over the motor area) are not spinning up. I have changed ECU but same problem
Its damned hard to get an oscilloscope on to the connecting cables. And without a circuit diagram to tell of what signals are on what wire.
I can't help feeling I have missed something, or I have two faulty Lasers or Fusers? How can one tell?
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I have no idea.
Motor works when i open and close the door of Toner cartridge.
Cold reset does not help:
1.
Turn off the printer.
2.
Remove the EIO accessory card (dont know what this should be, i use the usb-port).
3.
Press and hold the GO button.
4.
Turn the printer on and continue to hold the GO button for approximately five seconds, but no longer than fifteen seconds. The Attention light will come on during this process.
5.
Release the GO button. If both the Attention and Ready lights came on before the GO button is released, repeat the procedure.

| Re: HP Laserjet 2200D error by dmzcompute (4/3/08 5:52 PM) reply | + / - | That is a miscellenous interface error. Best way to test first is to remove the usb cable from the printer. Turn the printer on and do you still get the 3 lights solid and the same secondary message. If not the usb cable is bad and needs to be replaced or the usb output on the computer is bad. If you get the same error first make sure there is no jetdirect card in the printer where you would connect a network cable and located near the usb port. It will have two thumb screws holding it in place. Most times you do not have one and if that is the case it means your formatter will need to be replaced.

but suddenly i can't reach them.
If i turn the printer off and on, every thing is ok.
After 2-3 jobs the same problem, but the state led is green.
I tested the same with usb-connect, is the same.
If i print jobs with duplex, the second job dont work and i must turn off/on the printer.
Any ideas what the problem is ?

I am using an HP Laserjet 2200D. It was prone to paper jams a few weeks ago especially when I use automatic duplexing. When I clear the jam, the first page is usually about half way out of the printer and one or two pages are left under the toner cartridge. I really need my work printed back-to-back so I resorted to printing by manual duplexing. By Saturday night, even printing on one side became prone to paper jams. Each time I get a paper jam, the next printout is dirty so I had to keep cleaning the engine using a transparency (holding the go button for 12 seconds).
Last night the cartridge ran out of toner. I replaced the cartridge this morning and turned the printer on. It seemed fine. The ready (green) light was on. But as soon as I try to print anything, it makes a loud migraine-causing noise and does not even pull the paper from either tray. When the noise stops, all 3 lights are on. When I press the go and job cancel buttons simultaneously, the ready light goes out but when I release the buttons all 3 are on again.
I have tried turning the printer off and on again, restarting the computer, printing either from the computer or by pressing the big go button. The same thing happens. It does not matter where I put the paper, tray 1 or 2; or whether the straight paper panel is open. Nothing helps. I even tried pushing the green lever to check inside tray 2 but I found no paper in it.
Did cleaning the engine make the problem worse? I am not confident about tinkering with the printer’s insides but I am willing to try if anyone is willing to guide me.

Also you have more than 1 issue so you need to solve each one at a time. As to the jamming issue it could be as simple as a worn or dirty pickup roller. Best way to check is to put the paper on the manual feeder. Disconnect the printer from the computer and turn it back on. Now press the button for a self test with paper load on the manual feeder and report the results. Your error is not one of the fatal errors but rather a printer overrun error, but to make sure you need to do the test I ask you to do.

It acts like it wants to print, then the triangle error light flashes. It seems like it thinks there is paper in the manual tray. I saw in one post that you should turn the manual pull off, how do you do that.

- i turn the printer on
- it test itself and then te green light is on, so far nothing.
but when i give the printer a task:
- it gives an error on my computer that tray 2 is not installed :S tray 2 is in and with paper..
or
he's starting up and don't take the paper out of the tray
i give the command to feed it manualy and then:
- he don't get the paper that's insert.. the rollers arent spinning
but when i push the paper in, he takes it, but the aren't letters or someting on it when finished..
then the printer gives an error: all the lights are on (2 x green 1 x red)
i tried the following solutions:
-put some oil in the motor of the laser
-looking for wrong connections
- paper jams
- defect RAM memory
- removed expantion tray 3
but nothing works
somebody got a solution?

Assuming you're talking about a HP Laserjet 2200, when all three lights come on SOLID (fatal error), push the GO and CANCEL buttons together (to view the secondary error code), then tell us which lights remain ON and if they are blinking or solid. From the error code, we can figure out what the printer is saying.

- I push both buttons --> red goes out
- I release both bottons --> all 3 light are on and stay solid
stays the same..
something else: I saw that when i gave him a task the pick-up roller in tray 1 or 2 both not spin, a bit weird.

You said that just the red light (topmost of the three lights) goes out, when pressing both buttons for the secondary error code. This means a fuser error. It could be the fuser itself or an assembly associated with it. I would suspect the fuser first.

ok, i put the fuser out but i don't see anything strange, the screw on it is stuck on one side too... but there is nothing futher too see i think, just 2 rollers. there is no paper between it. Could it be that the heating element is damaged?
the gears are spinning when i put it on, so that isn't the problem. however, it's still weird that all the 3 pick up rollers do nothing, mechanical or connection?

Now, on power-on, the three lights flash in rotation, two cycles, then go to green. When a print job is sent, middle light (GREEN) flashes, motor turns, but nothing happens (paper doesn't feed). Then all three lights come on. Holding both buttons leaves middle and top lights on (big button's light goes off).
No stray parts nor paper nor paper scraps are visible. Toner cartridge looks OK.
Holding either the big button or the small ("cancel print job") button for 20 sec. at power on doesn't seem to change things.
From a fresh turn-on of printer, when it's gotten to "green", opening the toner cartridge "door" turns off middle (green) light (green) and flashes the red light. Closing that door turns off the flashing red and turns on the middle (green), and also revs the motor.
What next?

The printer usually makes a faint 'squeal' of rising frequency as the laser motor runs up to speed. If there is no squeal, paper will not feed ....... .
This is easily repairable with gentle handling. Be careful of the motor drum retaining screw - nylon.
Wash bearing surfaces with white spirit / isoprop. then thinly lubricate with light oiled paper or cloth. A very thin film displaces the very dry powder residue from the cleaning process. Keep grubby fingers away from lenses & mirrors. The rotating mirror is lastly cleaned and is not a big issue. ..

I observe with a microscope any cleaning fluid or cleaning with dry lint-free cloth or paper wil leave a residue - microscopic though it might be.
The laser mirror rotates at several thousand RPM so any light oil must be only thinly applied. You will not need most of only a drop! Take a cotton bud and dunk tip in someone's camera Lube, or 3-in-1 sewing machine oil. (Non-petoleum based after Moe!)
