Laserjet 6L Solid orange top LED by jobabin (11/19/04 10:23 AM) reply + / -
The top LED is orange and stays orange even after a power cycle

The engine test does not respond.

When i Hold in the button on the left the LEDs start at the bottom and works to the top green green orange and stays there.

When i move the paper sensor at the pickup roller in the back at the center around a bit and close the door the bottom LED goes green temporaily and back to the top light as orange.

You need to listen for engine noise and movement when you open and close the toner door. If there is no movement or noise you have a sensor in the paprr path out of position so the printer thinks it has a jam. Most common is the esit sensor by the fuser. Last picture at link below.

There is no sound and a sensor out of position makes sence since we just moved halfway accross the country - how is the adjustment made and are the pictures what it should look like in the correct position?

Thanks for the info

The exit sensor is definatley not where it should be but i can't get it to where it looks like it should be without getting the fuser cover off and i can't seem to get it off - one side isable to come out but the other side is held down with a black plastic peice attached to the right.

Any info on how to get the fuser cover off would be appreciated.
