Raven LP-800 groans and splotches by Chuck (8/24/01 11:58 PM) reply + / -
I took my old Raven LP-800 in last week because it had been and still is leaving varying sizes of ink on the paper as if someone had flicked the paper with with a toothbrush. The top edge of the paper invariably has black on the edge. and when I open the cover, I always see toner (and still do)collecting on the paper transport metal bars. There was/is also quite a groaning sound ..are these the rollers that need replacing? And it seems to me to take a lot longer to start the fan and to warm up than it used to.
I spent $200.00 this past week to have these things taken care of..they replaced the drum. But now that its home again, the same problems are ocurring...any hints or advice would be most appreciated. Thanks, Chuck

According to our site cross reference, that's a Panasonic KXP4420. A bit much for a drum unit. There shouldn't have been a labor charge since it just slides in. Takes all of 20 seconds to change. A defective wiper/sweeper blade in the drum usually causes toner dropping. Only thing else it could be is the developer unit and that's even more expensive than the drum. In my opinion those old printers aren't worth investing $200 in, even Canadian dollars. It's kind of too late now, but you would have been better served investing the money in a newer printer. Try taking it back to the shop and complaining. You haven't got anything to lose by it.
