 | HP 4000N Jamming by Roy Hopkins (10/7/03 4:53 PM) reply | + / - | I'm getting a 13.1 printer jam. Cleared paper still jams. Print from tray 1, first page print blank page jams on second page. When I print from tray 2 paper gets to pick up roller then stops. Paper stops at the same place everytime. Blows cold air, fuse isn't hot, arm on toner is open. (changed tones) Everytime it stops I get 13.1 paper jam. Installed maintenance kit. Did I miss something????????
Need to go from paper weight to paper printer

 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by David (10/7/03 10:59 PM) reply | + / - | It almost sound like you have multiple problems. Lets deal with tray 2 first. You have two rollers you replaced when you installed the maintenace kit. Remove the roller from the tray and also remove the gray clutch device. Replace the roller by itself without the clutch. Try to run a configuration page and see if it picks up. If it does, the clutch is tight and needs to have some of the magnetic dust removed. If it is the clutch email me for instruction on how to clean it. If is not the clutch it could be the electronic clutch located on the input unit behind tray 1. Did the machine jam at Tray 1 when printing a configuration page? The other problem could be the paper sensor located behind tray 1. It is pain to get to since it is attached to the ECU. It sometimes becomes loose and needs to be snapped back in place.

 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by Trev Pearson (10/7/03 11:14 PM) reply | + / - | Roy, strange it should jam from both trays. Just make sure that the paper you are using and the paper size that the printer is set to, are the same. Trev

 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by Trev Pearson (10/8/03 10:46 AM) reply | + / - | And yet another thought, you haven't dislodged the Toner Rod (the white arm thing, that connects to the lid) have you? If it is loose, then the cam that drives the Toner Cartridge won't engage and paper will jam at about the Transfer Roller. Trev

 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by Anonymous (10/8/03 1:23 PM) reply | + / - | Hi All, It pulls paper up to the transfer roller and stops that's when I get 13.1 paper jam. I changed all the roller and swaped trays just to make sure it wasn't tray 2. The sensor behind tray 1 is still snapped in place. That's the one connected to the ECU correct? I replaced the paper. I don't get the 13.1 error when I frist turn on the printer it attempt to print. stops at transfer roller. Just checked the toner arm (the white arm that goes to the cam). Question what can stop the laser and the fuser from working. I say that because tray 1 will print 1 page then jam but the paper comes out blank. I was thinking it might be a board but not sure which one. I'm doing this without any books on the printer

 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by dmzcompute (10/8/03 3:56 PM) reply | + / - | To answer you question what stops the laser and fuser, it is a timing issue. The paper must reach each sensor by a certain time or the machine shuts down. The blank page from the manual tray indicates the machine was probably trying to clear a page it thought was stuck in the paper path. The problem could be with the manual tray itself. You may want to turn it off in the configuration menu and try again from tray 2. Make sure when you install the toner cartridge it is engaging the laser shutter piece. You may also want to remove the top cover and see if the shutter (I think it has a shutter. Been a long time.) is opening when the toner is installed. I will check my books at the office tommorow for some other ideas.

 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by mcprinter (4/6/06 2:40 PM) reply | + / - | I have seen this quite a few times Most likely the feed assy behind the manual tray. RG5-2651-090CN
You will also get this problem if the roller in the paper cassette is missing.

 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by kamlesh.zala (4/12/06 2:26 AM) reply | + / - | replace manual paper pickup assy
|
 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by wlulham (4/12/06 8:33 AM) reply | + / - | Umm, no kamlesh. His problem occurs from Tray 2 or Tray 3, and therefore has nothing to do with the paper pickup assembly for the manual feed tray.
As mcprinter said, it is likely the paper feed assembly located behind the manual tray feed assembly. But I would check the normal rollers, clutches, etc. stuff first just in case.

 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by dmzcompute (4/15/06 9:04 AM) reply | + / - | Kamlesh,
The roller assembly is behind tray 1 and not part of tray 1. Please give good information as someone reading the last post might take your advice and spend money on a part which is not necessary. Most times it is the feed roller assembly behind tray 1 which needs to be replaced. In the over 50 of these that I have repaired with this problem, it has never been the tray 1 assembly, but has almost always been the feed assembly.

 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by jpking (edited 4/18/06 10:43 AM) reply | + / - | ok, i replaced the roller assy behind tray 1, part RG5-2651, unfortunately I am still having the same problem. paper stops right at the registration roller and throws a 13.1 error, if i use tray 1, first sheet comes out blank (i am assuming the printer is clearing the paper) but the second sheet jams with 13.2 right at the fuse with no image on that sheet as well.
any other advice?
this forum is awesome, it hasn't let me down yet, thanks for all the helpful advice.

 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by jpking (4/18/06 10:45 AM) reply | + / - | update:
as i was taking the assy out to return, i noticed a sensor flag behind it that was not straight, i push on it to the left a little and the flag popped right into place, tested the machine with the original part in, and it worked, new problem now... ghosting image, haven't had time to check the toner cart. yet, but thanks again everyone for all the advice, you pointed me into the right direction.

 | Re: HP 4000N Jamming by jpking (edited 4/20/06 3:54 PM) reply | + / - | i need help for a part that seems to be on back order from every vender we have an account with;
the part is for a lexmark C710 and it's the fuser drive motor (P/N 12G1626), i actually only need the gear that is part of the drive motor, but if it only comes as an assembly that would be o.k. as long as it has the gear.
i have tried parts2go, parts now, and printer works.
thanks for the help
