HP LJ III - print on legal paper only???

HP LJ III - print on legal paper only??? by tim (9/2/03 8:37 PM) reply + / -
Hi Folks,
I've been trying to set up our SOHO HP LaserJet III to use only legal paper by default - we print 90% of our docs on legal paper, with the occasional MS-Word doc coming up periodically on letter sized paper.

I've got everything set up nicely in the printer to use Legal in the tray, but of course it asks to 'Load Letter' when that pesky letter-sized page comes along.

Is there a way to have all printed material simply print out on the legal paper from the tray so folks don't have to jump up and load a sheet of letter in periodcially? Or am I limited to what the software defaults demand, i.e. must I set each application to print on legal paper?

Thanks in advance,
Tim.

If you have the printer default paper size as Legal, and try and print Letter size, you get that "Load Letter". I think you have answered your own question.

Throw away the III, go buy a HP 4000T, lot better printer, faster too, and you can set up each bin individually.

Best regards

If I could I would throw out my old corolla and get a new corvette. But like this guy it's probley not much help. But I believe you can press the continue button to print on the legal.

Thanks Trev - as far as a trade-in I would if I could...

And D67, thanks, the 'continue' button solution is where I am right now...

Short of having all 20 people in the office change their desktop apps to select only 'legal only' it doesn't sound like there's a solution. I was hoping for an 'HP Override' of some sort to simply crank everything out on legal.

Any further ideas much appreciated!

Cheers,
Tim.

Didn't know the "Continue" worked in this situation. Hmmmmmm, learning all the time. Good thing, these forums.
Have a look at EBAY.COM some of the prices are amazingly cheap.
Cheers

Love eBay.com We get a lot of business from people who buy non-working printers from them.

I just got a guy who called me because he got a great deal on a LJ 5P printer from Ebay and it has torn fixing film. He would have saved 30% if have purchased one from me. Gotta love that. I made him felt really stupid. He called me before that inquiring about my LJ's.
