FFF: Is the "out of paper message" only up on you Monitor, or is there a message/error lights also on your printers operation panel area?...TRY RUNNING YOUR PRINTER UNHOOKED FROM YOUR PC, TO TRY AND ISOLATE YOUR PROBLEMS: Disconnect the "printer cable" from the back or side of your printer and turn your printer off. After 10 seconds or so, turn your printer back on and try running it as a STAND ALONE PRINTER [not connected to your PC]. This of course will not be possible if your printer comes back on [when you turn the power back on] with any ERROR LIGHTS on solid or flashing. If there are no error lights on, then try running any available "HP Internal Self-Tests" that may be available on your model. You may have to refer to your "Users Manual" for available self-tests. If the self-tests can be ran successfully, that would normally indicate that your printer was working properly. Then your problem could be possibly in your PC, PRINTER DRIVERS, PRINTER CABLE, OR POSSIBLY software...Good Luck! Denny Conway

Steven: Which light is flashing? There are three lights: power light, Resume light and cartridge light...Go to your Users Manual and look up the light patterns and see what they stand for. If you don't have your manual, you can go on-line to HP and look up the information on their web-site, at http://h200006.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/bpd08072/bpd0 8072.pdf ...Good Luck!
