hp officejet g85 where does spring go? by crtr (11/3/09 2:23 PM) reply + / -
Since I had taken the g85 printer apart so many times, with the help of your forum, I thought I had it memorized... until I found the spring on the floor and now I am drawing a blank on how to re-attach it.

I am fairly certain that this particular spring is used to tighten the toothed belt that moves the scanner box. can anyone tell me exactly where this spring re-attaches? I wish I had taken a digital photograph... there is a small place to clip on one end, if someone can tell me where the other end of the spring goes.
thanks

The spring that tightens the scanner head (scanner box) drive belt is a trapezoid shaped compression spring and goes on the right end of the rod. That doesn't sound like what you are referring to. Click on the crossed tools to the right of my name and email me a photo.

would help if you could tell us what did you dismantle and the shape and type of the spring.

if the spring is for tightening the scanner belt, i'm fairly certain your scanner is not going to move properly without it.

is the machine working properly?

Thanks for answering. you are right, the spring definitely is needed for the scanner to work properly. everything seems to work now.

doctuh emailed some pictures that perfectly locate the spring. I dont see a way upload them here so I emailed them to you for future reference for someone else who may need them.

thanks
