 | HP G85 by phoran (11/3/09 12:19 PM) reply | + / - | My G85 has two problems. The document feeder doesn't pull through docs without a gentle assist from the operator. Additionally, the printed page does not fully eject and causes jamming of the following page. Is this worth trying to fix? Anybody know what is involved?

The document feeder problem can be solved by cleaning the two feed rollers in the input tray with a cotton swab and water.
The jam problem is most likely caused by a broken paper pusher. After a page prints it is necessary for it to be pushed into the paper output tray. Three ‘fingers’ accomplish this just as the page exits the rubber rollers that are visible when the cover is opened. Print a page and view the printer at an angle where you can see the carriage move as printing takes place. At the instant the paper comes out of the rollers, the three 'fingers' will pop-up and push the paper into the output tray. They get broken when paper jams are pulled out through the front rather than the rear cleanout door. The P/N for the paper pusher is C6429-40031. Careful shopping online with get you one for under $10.
It will be necessary to remove the case and partially disassemble the print mechanism in order to replace the paper pusher. Email me by clicking on the crossed tools to the right of my name for instructions. Be specific about what you need.
