c86 - not your standard problem by john ritschel (7/20/08 12:31 AM) reply + / -
After getting "banding" with my standard c86 black cartridge, I replaced it with an Epson High-Capacity cartridge. Seems to print fine; but the red "Ink" light keeps blinking. Also, I can't access the "Ink-Remaining" button, because it's "greyed-out." Are these symptoms of a problem I just haven't discovered yet??

The light is probably blinking because when you installed the new high capacity cartridge the printer ran it's priming cycle for the cartridge. You can the SSC service utility to monitor the ink or you may need to reinstall the printer driver. The ink status may be blocked due to a generic ink cartridge.
