 | HP Professional 2000c prints blank pages by scotru (4/26/08 5:55 PM) reply | + / - | Greetings,
I have a client with an HP 2000c Professional ink jet prtiner that recently inexplicably began printing blank pages. If you go to the "service" option in the driver and print cleaning or test pages, things look great. But any time you try to print from an application (or even the Windows test page), we get a blank page. The printer ones through all the motions as if it is printing (head goes back and forth, feeds paper, etc...) but we get a blank page out.
Occasionally we also get a "printer communications error" and flashing amber light, or sometimes all lights blink fast.
We've tried the machine on 2 different computers and it behaves the same way on both. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
Thanks!

If my assumptions are true then the main electronics board is incapable of printing data from a software application.
I assume that the driver is correct for the operating system that you are using and the printer cable is known to be good.
FYI: Assuming that you are using Windows XP to test the printer, I suspect that you are using the driver that came with XP. HP also supplies a driver that can be downloaded. If you are not using it already it is worth trying. http://h20000.www2.hp.com

I will attempt to test with another cable, but I know that the printer has been working with this cable and driver in the past. The driver is actually for Windows 98 (sadly, a requirement because of the several thousand dollar sign making hardware attached to this system whose software does not support XP). Unfortunately, HP does not appear to provide Windows 98 drivers on their website--but I did try downloading a driver from another source and had the same results with it. Maybe a problem with the logic board in the printer?
