 | Canon i850 prints blank sheets by MPTech  (10/12/07 5:38 PM) reply | +1 + / - | I've had my Canon i850 for 3 or 4 years and it has done a great job up until this issue.
During the weekend, it completely quit printing. The paper still feeds, the head still moves back and forth and for all intensive purposes, it sounds like it's printing, but nothing, nada, zip, not even a smudge. I also tried printing a document from another PC connected to this printer.
i tried all of the Maintenance items: Cleaning, Deep Cleaning, Print Head Alignment, and Nozzle Check, but no improvement. I also removed the print head, ran it under water until no more ink, then blew it dry with a compressor and still no improvement. The printer didn't show any signs of problems before this either. No lines missing or invalid colors, or blotches.
I'm guessing that it's the print head, but it's really just a guess. Is there any way to check before I buy a replacement?
Or is there something I've overlooked that I should try first.

I have tried all maintenance items without resolution. Any recommendations on the next step. Can a consumer replace the print head himself or is this something that needs to go to a shop?

I cleaned the printhead with distilled water. Re-installed the printhead. The flashing lights stopped but now the printer goes through all of is processes but only blank pages come out. The indicator light now never goes out, even after leaving the printer unplugged overnight. I have replaced the printhead with a new one. Nothing changed, the light stays green, the printer appears to work, but nothing prints.
Does anyone have an idea for a solution? Is the printer simply dead?

It was printing in black only and I went through the whole cleaning process and replaced the print head and filled the cartriges and now it won't even print in black!I also went through the maintenance procedure and still blank pages any ideas? At leased I wish it would print the black ink. I am at my wits end. I know it has to be something simple but why should I take it to a service center for big bucks.Someone has to know how to fix this problem.

still blank.
do i junk my printer or can there be another solution? why is this happening?
do i need to reset something? the carriage and paper and moving parts all seem fine. just nothing coming out on the page

I plan on taking the printer into a Canon repair shop. My analysis is that the logic board is bad but that is only a guess at this time.

Did you find any answers with the repair shop?

| Re: Canon i850 prints blank sheets by complit (7/19/09 2:44 PM) reply | + / - | My i850 is putting out a blank sheet in front of my print job and a blank sheet behind the print job. When I print multiple copies, it still kicks out a blank before and after.
Any suggestions on how to fix? Thanks.
