 | Fixed HP 2575 3210 paper feeder by willaaam (9/5/07 2:01 AM) reply | +1 + / - | As many of you know, the following printers have a lot of paper pickup issues.
Espescially those with the dreaded gray (grey) rollers.
The printer doesn't pick up the paper because those rollers are too smooth. We need to give them some grip.
So, we're off to building a piece of kit to help us achieve this goal:
Requirements: One slimline cd case One pritt stick One piece of sandpaper, course grit, somewhere between 40 to 60
Right. Having acquired the ingredients: Glue a fairly large piece of sandpaper on your slimline cd case. It needs to placed on the top-right edge. Please make sure it's at least 8 centimeters wide and 6 centimeters tall. If you're an inches guy thats about 3" x 2.5". Make sure that you apply glue to both the cd case and to the bottom of the sandpaper. Apply pressure and let it dry for about half an hour. This just to make sure, you really don't want sandpaper and pritt inside your printer.
Using your new paperfeedingwheelsander: First up: Remove the piece of your printer on the back side that folds the paper. It's usually got a big HP logo on it.
You can now see the gray roller on the left side. This small part is whats causing all those problems.
Second: Remove the paper blocking arm. You do this by screwing off the piece of plastic on the bottom left side (when viewing your printer from behind). It's usually got your mac adres stickered to it. To remove it, unscrew the torx screw on the bottom, remove the plastic and most important, remove the black arm.
All set.
Remove all the paper from the paper tray and insert your special paperfeedingwheelsander. Make sure to push it all the way to the end of the paper tray. You should see the gray paper feed wheel come up a bit. Make sure this wheel is on top of the sandpaper.
Now turn on your printer and hit the black copy button. It will start feeding paper which causes the wheel to rub on the sandpaper. This is good. After a few seconds it'll give a paper feed error and your answer will be ok so it'll try again.
Do this for about 4-5 minutes and be sure to move the cd box regularly. This because gray rubber will start to settle on the sandpaper.
Right, after this is done, remove your paperfeedingwheelsander. Now insert a sheet of paper and press ok again. You'll see a lot of excess rubber settling on the paper. Which again is good. Run about 10 sheets through your printer, just to be sure you've got it all.
If all is well, your printer should now be feeding better than ever.
Reassemble the printer and you've just saved $30 that HP charges for the cleaning kit. I'll add some photos soon.

Thank you!! I bought one of these printers on ebay and sure enough it has this problem-which I had read about. Yeah I'm sure that sounds nuts but I use linux and HP's are best supported plus an all-in-one with networking and it's lighter than many of the
