HP Business InkJet 2250tn Error E:0461 by l884196 (12/29/06 9:22 AM) reply + / -
Could anyone please help me with an error I am having with an HP Business InkJet 2250tn? Upon power up, the printer begins the auto-alignment, prints a little of the Cyan bars, then freezes up with a display error of "E:0461".

In scouring the web, I did find that there is a range of error numbers that refer to a mechanical problem. However, I have no clue as to what/where to begin troubleshooting/swapping out parts.

The BIJ2250 Reference guide does not list the codes.

This may be a firmware error.

Looking at the 2230 manual the codes for that machine seem to indicate a service station problem.

I think that I have seen this on a 2280 - Another similar printer.
It was the carriage assy (where the heads are).

The error E:0461 went away on the HP 2280 printer after resetting the printheads, latch, and the respective cover (lid). I had removed one of the printheads earlier and apparently did not seat everything properly.

Do not confuse the printhead with the ink cartridge. They are both different, although both have the appearance of a print cartridge and both remove easily.

I had just replaced the black printhead and then received the E:0461 error.
Just press the cancel button on front panel as the Auto Alignment Initializes. It will put the printer into Ready mode. I was able to print OK.
