My Epson Styles CX5400 stopped printing in black ink after I replaced the black cartridge.Color prints fine. After numerous head cleanings I read the post on the disconnected tube here and took apart the printer to see if that was the problem. However the hose is still connected. So I have bought the cleaning solution kit to try and dissolve any clogs that may be present. This requires head cleaning cycles and due to the previous cycles i carried out my Cyan and Magenta inks are running low. The printer refuses to do a head cleaning since the ink is low. My question is - is it possible to use the HEad cleaning solution without doing head cleaning cycles ? I would hate to buy new cartridges and use the cleaning solution only to find the printer does not work as expected and I have to trash it with all new ink cartridges Thanks aps

The reason you need to run a cleaning cycle after you clean the print heads is because you neeed to reprime the print head with ink. Also there could still be a clog at the end of the ink purge tube where it enters the absorber pads.
