HI! im new to this so here i go
i have a EPSON STYLUS CX5400 , i have just replaced my BLACK INK cart and the others are either LOW or empty but i JUST want to print in black , the display on the printer just says replace magenta and nothing else, except press color button to move head to replace cart, So what do i do now? i just want to print out some regular black text,

i try printing something and the printer just doesnt respond due to the magenta INK OUT?

can anyone help?

Unfortunately, the way it was designed requires all carts to have some ink in them, even if printing only in black. To my knowledge it takes small amounts of all the colours in order to generate any colour, even black. There might be utilities to get around this, but they could damage your machine, I'm not actually sure.

Cheers.
