No responses to earlier post so have posted again. My R1800 with CIS has gone into a error state. When printer is turned on Paper and ink lights on front alternately blink and the Bottom light On/Ready light goes OFF. I can not move the head manually and so can not open the cartridge lid. Anybody know what error state it is in? Tried SSC software to reset waste ink reservoir but no response. Any way of moving head to the left without disassembly? Anybody out there able to help?? Tony this sounds like the dreaded waste ink error. I don't know how to clear it perhaps someone else.
But usually you can move the carrier. If you turn on the printer. When the head moves from the right side just unplug the printer. The head will be free so you can move it. Don't turn it off or it will go back to the right and lock. Unplug it.
The SCC program should help you to do the waste ink reset. But you may have to replace a couple cartridges first.
Thanks for the reply. The Ink Head unfortunately does not move when switching on and SSCLG reset program doesn't work either. I am going to try the Maintenance program that comes with 2manuals.com as a last resort. I have been told that the blinking lights are the error code for a maintenance check (ie Ink waste pad change)
Bought the service program from 2manuals.com and it worked a treat. Reset counter to zero but I now have to find out how to replace/clear the waste ink pads or bottle. No service manual for the R1800 to my knowledge yet available.
Can anyone help??? I have just replaced my cartridges in an Epson R1800 with Jettec compatibles (the correct ones as listed by Jettec) and now have an unuseable printer. ALL LIGHTS ARE ON and nothing will work, I cannot see that this is a waste pad problem, the machine is only abt 3 mnths old and has had other cartridges replaced with Jettec one by one. Now that ALL the Cartridges are Jettec I am getting this problem. Tried using the Ssc service download but this does not appear to work, even thought the blurb says that the R1800 is one of the machines that the prog will recognise. Would be grateful for any help .
Lights on usually mean empty cartridges, buy a chip resetter and reset to full. I have had the occasional chip that seems to fail and not be able to be reset, you can cut it off with "Stanley" knife and replace with an original one cut from an OEM cartridge. Have also had a couple of sensing pins on the printer side stick so as to not make contact. Freed them up with a small pair of tweezers. Hope this helps.
