we have an epson stylus cx5400 all in one printer. We have used ink from 2 different companies bought on line, and each time the print quality has declined. The last time was bad so we ordered new Epson ink cartridges and now it will not print at all. We have run all of the nozzle check and head cleaning procedures several times. Still not printing. Epson support suggests we call them at $9. and some cents for their suggestion. I have read several of the post about Epson printer not printing and am now wondering, which would be better, to buy the head cleaning products or a new printhead assembly or what. This printer is still in good condition and is only a year and a half old.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

 | Re: epson stylus cx5400 not printing by yofadda (9/14/05 12:24 AM) reply | + / - | I've experienced the same problem with my cx5400 (used lightly for about the same amount of time) BUT I have used ONLY Epson cartridges!!!
I tried all the usual cleaning & nozzle check maneuvers but to no avail. When I called Epson they referred me to a repair facility 30 miles away who wanted $45 to diagnose the problem.
I think I'll try the cleaning kit before adding this to a landfill.
The govt needs to FORCE printer manufacturers to design goods to be ECONOMICALLY repairable at domestic US labor rates otherwise we are in for an ecological disaster!!!

You need cleaning alcohol and drinking alcohol to do it
You also need a pin to un-clogg the holes
more to follow if I can get mine working
