Epson CX5200 Inkhead

Epson CX5200 Inkhead by kram (6/21/05 2:30 PM) reply + / -
Hello,

Lately, I've been having problems with the inkheads on my Epson CX5200. The prints, especially with the black ink, where fading. It seems like a very common problem, just browsing through this forum. As a result, a friend of mine recommended I use the kit found on this website - the head cleaning "fix your own printer" kit. I got it in the mail a few weeks ago, and gave it a try - ran it through several times, did head cleaning many times. I followed the instructions.

After several run throughs, the printer was printing blank pages. I reactivated the cartridges several times (remove cartridge, reinsert) to no end result. The cartridge is feeding ink to the printer, but something between the tube the connects to the cartridge and the inkhead is causing inkflow obstruction. Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks.

kram: If your printers red ink light is not actually on, but it still will not print in black or colors [even though your cartridges have ink in them], then its possible that you may have a different problem, which unfortunatly seems to be quite common on the CX5200 Printer. If there is no actual red ink light on and you were to do a search on this Printer Repair Site, you would see that you are not alone in your problem. I've read several posted messages on this Printer Repair Site on just that particular problem [new ink cartridges installed and now won't print at all]. I recommend that you do a general search on the "fixyourownprinter.com" printer repair site, under your CX5200 printer and then you can read about other peoples experiences, their advise and even what they have tried, sometimes successfully. It seems like most of the problems are not actually related to clogging, or even a bad or empty ink cartridge, but is usually more of a Hardware/Parts Failure, but no way for me to really know. It seems to happen most of the time, just by simply repacing the ink cartridges, as normal. HERE'S A PREVIOUS POSTING BY "WES", ON THAT COMMON PROBLEM: Wes 7/11/2004 14:19:40 Re: Epson cx5200 ink problems. The most common problem found with the CX5200 is the tubing on the cap asselbly becomes disconnected. The cap assembly can't clean the print head if the tube is detached. The print head face may also need to be cleaned as well as the print head itself. For info try these two links http://epsonhelp.freehttp.com/Printhead.html http://epsonhelp.freehttp.com/phface.html . And for more info on trouble shooting the CX5200 try this link http://epsonhelp.freehttp.com/CX5200TS1.html and for disassembly info try here http://epsonhelp.freehttp.com/CX52001.html . I hope this helps, Wes...[or]...Wes 11/29/2004 20:50:23 Re: cx5200 cap tube. Here is a copy of a page that was on compassmicro's site. It might help http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/duraink.html . I hope this helps, Wes....I know this information does not really give you that much to go on, but I felt you should know about other peoples reports, just in case it happens to apply in your case...You might want to check out the "Dura Brite Blank Output Information Page", for the "CX82", "CX5200" & "CX64/C84" models, at http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/duraink.html . It seems like most of the problems are not actually related to clogging, or even a bad or empty ink cartridge, but is usually more of a Hardware/Parts Failure, but no way for me to really know. The most common failure seems to happen most of the time, just by simply repacing the ink cartridges, or simply happens during normal use of the printer. The most common problem found on some of the newer "C" & "CX" printers, is the tubing on the cap assembly becomes disconnected. The cap assembly can't clean the print head if the tube is detached. That information page may be of some help on your printers possible problem, if that tube has actually come off. I know this information does not really give you that much to go on, but I felt you should know about this common problem, just in case it happens to apply in your case...Good Luck! Denny Conway
