 | Epson 1520 Color Stylus Error Light Problem by Dennis (11/5/01 5:57 AM) reply | + / - | I need help, I bought one Epson 1520 Color Stylus printer second hand. I replaced the printheads for both color and black, for a while it can work, but recently I'm getting the open cover light and the reset light blinking. If anybody out there could tell me what do these blinking indicates, it would be a great help to me. Thanks.

You can reset it by holding down the three buttons on the right side of the panel along with one other button, but can't remember what other buttons are on the panel. Anyway, those three with another button held down and then turn it on. Wait for ALL lights to turn on, then release all buttons. Just let me know which other buttons are on the one besides the three along the right side.

 | Re: Epson 1520 Color Stylus Error Light Problem by Alfred Focke (12/31/01 6:06 PM) reply | + / - | I took this printer apart to fix crooked feed problems (fixed). I am sure I did not break anything, but after putting it back together I have the same occasional "Cover Open" light problems. The switch is great. Occasionally the printer starts getting out of position and sounds like a rock crusher. I have cleaned the photo eye for the head position with no change in operation. The printer is useless at the present time. ????

 | Re: Epson 1520 Color Stylus Error Light Problem by Anonymous (1/13/09 4:23 AM) reply | + / - | These lights flashing, as you descibed, indicate some kind of jam. It has nothing to do with the cover. Often it is simply a matter of lubrication or components in the area of the printhead carriage's home position being not set in their correct position(s). Here's what to try: With the printer unplugged, lightly lubricate the shaft it rides along with very thin oil. Move the printhead carriage left to the middle of the printer and plug in the printer and turn it on. Let the printer go through its initialization. That may fix your problem. Let us know what happens. - Scotty
