Epson C82 by Katharyn (1/4/05 12:24 PM) reply + / -
I have an Epson C82 at work that has not printed properly since I got here. I have run every sort of maintenance trick I can think of and nothing works. Despite having new cartridges, and supposedly clean heads, it does not print anything at all when the computer tells it to print. It goes through all the motions, the blinking light comes on indictating it has data, it feeds paper, the ink even goes back and forth over the page like it is printing... but nothing. Please help! Thanks!!!

Katharyn: If your printers red ink light is not actually on, but it still will not print in black or colors [even though your cartridges have ink in them], then its possible that you may have a different problem, which unfortunatly seems to be quite common on the C80/C82 series. If there is no actual red ink light on and you were to do a search on this Printer Repair Site [under your Epson C80 printer], you would see that you are not alone in your problem. I've read several posted messages on this Printer Repair Site on just that particular problem [new ink cartridges installed and now won't print at all]. I recommend that you do a general search on the "fixyourownprinter.com" printer repair site, under your C80 printer and then you can read about other peoples experiences, their advise and even what they have tried, sometimes successfully. It seems like most of the problems are not actually related to clogging, or even a bad or empty ink cartridge, but is usually more of a Hardware/Parts Failure, but no way for me to really know. The most common problem is that a small hose under the Cleaning Station Assembly comes off. When that happens, it causes vacuum to be lost, resulting in no ink printing. It seems to happen most of the time, just by simply repacing the ink cartridges, as normal. I know this information does not really give you that much to go on, but I felt you should know about other peoples reports, just in case it happens to apply in your case...There is a "Dura Brite Blank Output Information Page", available to view at http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/duraink.html , that covers the most common problem in the "C82", "C64/C84" & "CX5200" series of printers. There is also an "EPSON C82 Disassembly Instructions Page", that is available to view at http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/c821.html , that may be of some help to you in at least removing the Top Cover Assembly [Page #27 lists HOUSING REMOVAL], in case you want to try and do that commonly needed repair...I will e-mail you some previously posted information, that may apply to your printers possible problem...Good Luck! Denny Conway
