 | Canon i250 & i250 waste ink tank counter reset. by BSF (12/10/04 10:13 PM) | +3 + / - | OK, Boys and Girls...here finally is the complete answer to the problem of the waste ink tank counter reset for Canon i250 and i350 printers.
1. Disconnect printer from AC power (take out AC cord or power off your power strip). Disconnect USB PC cable from printer.
2. Press and HOLD the POWER button (untill step 7).
3. Reconnect power cord (turn on power) to the printer.
4. The indicator should be green.
5. Press and release the RESUME button , the indicator should be orange.
6. Press and release the RESUME button again, the indicator should be green.
7. NOW Release POWER buttons.
8. NOW Connect the printer to PC (USB cable).
9. NOW...I opened "Printers" and saw that a "copy" of my printer (i250 or i350) had been made. Make that COPY your default printer and all should work...It did for me.
You May Thank Me NOW!!!!
I must say...I went into the "GUTS" of the beast and cleaned out the PADS (they are actually vacuum pads that the INK is sucked through during a HEAD cleaning) a very messy undertaking.
I'm not sure how much life this will add to your printer.

Using the I320 Service Tool
1. setup your pc and install windows 98/98SE/ME. this is required to ensure that the i320 service tool will run.
2. after installation (which includes all drivers), install the appropriate printer driver for the printer. you can download it from canon's driver download site.
3. run the i320 service tool and follow the steps below.
EEPROM reset / Destination setting
4. install the print head, and while holding down the POWER button, plug in the AC cable (the green lamp lights up.)
5. while still holding down the POWER button, press the RESUME button twice and release the POWER button to enter the Service Mode (each press of the RESUME button changes the LED color: the LED lights in orange the first time, and in green at the second time.)
6. connect the printer to the computer, select "USB PORT" using the i320 service tool.
7.
-other than Japan: select "1" in "SET DESTINATION"
-Japan: select "2" in "SET DESTINATION"
EEPROM is reset at the same time when the destination is set.

This simple power off procedure worked on my IP1500!
Cleaning the absorber was also easy. Power up with the cover open until the head moves to the left side then disconnect the power cord so the head is now positioned away from the pads.
The two pads can be lifted up easily with a pair of sharp tweezers then rinsed in running water. They will become white again and can be blotted with paper napkins then air dried in a warm location (I used an industrial oven set to 40°C). The wells in the rubber holder can be cleaned with cotton swabs before returning the two pads (left side first, then press down the right side).

Turn off printer
Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
Your printer should respond as normal.
And indeed it does! F#*k Canon....

Yo tengo la impresora canon i250, llego a su máximo número de impresiones y ya no quiso imprimir más. Así que busque en estos foros como resetear el contador de tinta y obtuve un programa muy útil para resetear, lo conseguí de la siguiente dirección:

Entren a esa página y escojan:
i320/i255 Service tool (para canon i250, i255, i350, etc.)
Hay más programas para resetear impresoras Canon, pero de acuerdo al modelo que ustedes tienen descárguenlo, ok.
La forma de utilizar (a mi me funcionó) es la siguiente.
1. La impresora tiene que estar reseteada manualmente antes de utilizar este programa.
2. Encender la impresora.
3. Ejecutar el programa i350tool_Win98V100 (que ya lo habéis descargado)
4. En la parte superior izquierda, donde dice "USB PORT", ahi tienen que seleccionar el puerto donde esta instalado la impresora.
5. Donde esta la opción "TEST PRINT" activen las casillas "CLEANING y "EEPROM CLEAR"; luego tienen que hacer clic en "TEST PATTERN 2" y listo la impresora comenzará un proceso, el cual tomara unos minutos, tienen que dejar que termine ese proceso (terminará dicho proceso cuando la luz verde de la impresora dejará de parpadear). Tienen que colocar una hoja en blanco para que termine dicho proceso.
Este procedimiento me sirvió la primera vez que reseteé mi impresora, cuando lo intenté la segunda vez resultó, pero no imprimía correctamente.
Leí en un foro como este, que hay que limpiar el cabezal de impresión, como?. Sumergiéndolo en agua destilada por unas 2 horas. Así se removerá la tinta que esta obstruyéndose en el cabezal de impresión y listo; yo hice algo más, remojé con agua la parte interna del cabezal, por donde se colocan los cartuchos de tinta, pero teniendo cuidado con no mojar la parte del cabezal que va en contacto con la impresora (o sea la parte verde posterior del cabezal de impresión). Luego hay que secarlo muy bien, sin que quede restos de agua, ni una sola gota... y listo!
Ahora mi impresora imprime como nueva.
Espero que esta información les sea de utilidad. Yo en un momento, cuando se bloqueo mi impresora, no sabía que hacer, entré en uno de estos foros y encontré información que me sirvió, así que estoy devolviendo de cierta manera la ayuda que encontré aquí.

WASTE TANK ALMOST FULL or FULL ERROR MESSAGE PROBLEM
This is true with many Canon Ink Jet Printers: Eventually, you'll get an error message "Waste Ink Tank Almost Full, Contact Your Canon Repair Center". Canon is totally sly about this, and is actually a pretty ridiculous design flaw that they should be ashamed of- planned obsolescence. Anyway, don't let this problem discourage buying an otherwise fantastic Canon printer.
This problem will also be indicated by flashing orange lights on your printer. Different flashes for different models.
LOOK IN YOUR PRINTER MANUAL TO KNOW WHAT NUMBER OF FLASHES INDICATE. In any case, your computer printer software will also tell you exactly what is going on.
You need to do this after you get the WASTE TANK ALMOST FULL message and the printer continues to work, but BEFORE the WASTE TANK FULL message and the printer completely stops. I think. ;-)
Here's the fix:
The waste ink take is actually just a felt pad that sits under the printer mechanism inside the case and absorbs the ink from your cleanings. From what I gather, its both a time consuming and expensive proposition to take to Canon to fix. And they won't tell people how to do it themselves. Well, I WILL. And this works.
Remember of course, you've got to cycle the cleaning process a huge amount of times to get this to occur.
But when it does, there is a fix-it-yourself solution that is both safe and effective for the printer, and free. You have to be slightly mechanical to do this. If you get this message and you've never used a screwdriver and are all thumbs, well, Canon gotcha. But give it a shot even then, or give it to someone halfway coordinated to do this for you.
You may RESET the printer code first if you like or do it after you clean the pad
In some cases you may need to REMOVE THE PRINT HEAD FIRST or the reset code will not work. This was true of the S900 and i960 so, remove the print head first before doing this reset.
This is the correct code for the S and I (like i960) series of printers. (M series below this)
1) Power off printer
2) Hold RESUME button then press and hold POWER. (The beeper MAY sound once, or may not depending on your model.)
3) Hold POWER and Release RESUME.
4) Press RESUME twice then release both POWER and RESUME buttons.
5) When the indicator lights steady, press RESUME 4 times (for the S900, 3 times for the 8200 apparently).
6) Press power to set data.
7) Print away!
For other codes for other printers and more info go here to this big forum (but try the above first) Fix Your Own Printer Generally many of Canon's models use exactly this same code, the i models use the same code, all the s models use the same code.
