For those of you who also had your HP Deskjet 3820 crap out, please contact me or reply with the type of printer you bought to replace it with. Also, I have some unused cartridges if anyone is interested.

I will accept any ink cartridges that I can use in my 3820 hp, and pay for shipping. That would be wonderful.

Hi,

The ink light is flashing constantly even though the cartridges have been replaced. Sometimes the paper light flashes even though there is no paper jam.

Please help!

Re: HP Deskjet 3820 by Bert (3/21/05 3:14 PM) reply + / -
Clean the cartridge and carriage electrical contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol. Remove the rear access door and clean the feed rollers with a damp cloth.

FYI
When you get a carriage jam error (and you probably will), the printer is scrap. Search this site for epic posts on the matter.

Intermittent Lines not printing very well by Krystine69 (10/1/05 11:02 AM) reply + / -
Hello :)
My printer seems to be randomly printing lines that are more faded than the rest of the page. Doing a test print... I get
a faded line about 7 lines down, then 7 again, then 5 lines down, then 3 then 7 lines down, etc. The lines in between the faded ones are strong and printed normally.
Any idea on what I should be looking at?
Thanks,
Krystine

HP is sending free replacements for most DeskJet 3820's that fail, specifically those that fail with a carriage jam, (lower 2 lights flashing in sync).

Since the failure is due to poor design all of them will eventually fail with this problem.

Read the following thread:

This is the part of that thread that will be of help to you if you get in an online chat with HP:

And here's the page to start with on HP's site:

Look for a link on the right side under Features & alerts.

Re: Re: HP Deskjet 3820 does not want to help me by Anonymous (3/21/06 5:59 AM) reply + / -
I did the online chat with HP yesterday to ask about a replacement and they were like NO, we absolutely will not replace it for free. However, theysaid I could choose an upgrade for 129 dollars. Why should I pay for a printer when they know that it was faulty to begin with. Im really sad because I had a lot of respect for HP. Can someone tell me how to get the printer replaced for free or how to get the equivalent. I dont mind sending the one I have back. They told me that they stopped replacing for free as of 1.1.2006. But they knoew the problem existed, so is it my fault that my printer decided to stop working last weekend instead of on 12.31.2005. Someone please help me.
