 | Epson 1280 by Sherry (11/19/04 7:30 AM) reply | + / - | I love my 1280, but recently had to disassemble (using instructions) because it was putting black streaks on paper. Now that it is back together it will not print black. The color is fine I've done numerous cleanings and installed new cartridges. I'm thinking that because it sat for about 3 weeks with no cartridges in it that the black has dried ink in it somewhere. I don't want to replace the printhead if it can be avoided. Any suggestions? I looked for a black printhead on the web, but don't know which one is right for the epson 1280. Also what is the right cleaning cartridge for the 1280 (black & color)? Any help is most appreciated. I use this printer in my business and really need it operational ASAP.

If you are willing to run the risk you could refill your cartridge with distilled water using a syringe, leaving it in the printer for a night or so. This will free up the ink conduits form air bubbles but the cartridge will become unusable.
