 | Re: Canon MPC INKTank FULL by Chuck (12/16/04 1:53 PM) | + / - | It's great to be able to provide people with info to use their printers again, but I caution you with the "Waste Ink Tank Full" error to watch just resetting the error. This error occurs after a set number of nozzle activations, and it's to protect you from having ink start leaking out of your printer. The waste ink tank is actually a large cotton pad in the bottom of the machine which absorbs the waste ink, and if this pad becomes full, the ink will pool and, like water, seek the path of least resistance, which could be where the case parts connect, and then leaking out onto your desk or carpet... Just something to consider.

 | Re: Canon MPC INKTank FULL by Phil (1/8/05 10:36 AM) | + / - | Does this reset work with th MPC200? I've tried but I can't get to the service mode. I ask because my when I try to print or scan I get the error message that the printer is not connected or switched on and so on. I've tried un-insalling and re-installing but still get the message. The MPC200 shows on the device manager as as multipass and also as a storage device. But when I go click on my computer or scanners and cameras in the control panel it keeps searching and the the pc somtimes locks up. The MPC200 works fine as a photo copier off line. (Windows xp)

|
 | Canon F50 INKTank FULL by AngelT (8/1/05 1:37 PM) | +3 + / - | It could be due to "waste tank full" alarm; you may need to reset the waste tank counter. I found a reset sequence for a MP730 printer in this website that works for F30 and F50 as well. Try: Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter 1) Enter SERVICE MODE.--- By pressing Menu-Copy-# 2) Select TEST MODE. 3) Select [8] PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE. 4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR]. 5) Select 0. [INK COUNT]. 6) Press the [OK] key. 7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key.
Skip step (6) since there is no [OK] key on F30 printers.

 | Servic Mode MP360 by kaydin1st (8/23/05 12:31 PM) | + / - | I have one of these it took a little trail and error to find service mode but here is the keys
1)Printer on, press Additional Functions, Scan, Copy, Scan Now you should be in service mode from there for waste ink tank reset it is simalar to what has already been posted
2)Select Test mode which is like the last avalabe selection 3)Select #8 Printer Test, it will do something here like cleaning or something then it will come up with some other option this is where it gets a bit confusing cause now all it says is like 8-2 or 8-3 push the + or - button until it says 8-3 then hit the select button
The menu will now say EEPRON Clear Select Ink count which is option (0) and press set
Then press Stop/Reset Followed by the power button and then wait for it to restart.
Hope this is not to confusing

 | Re: Canon MPC INKTank FULL by Stephen (9/3/05 8:17 PM) | + / - | You can "probably" do this once safely, if you reset the counter too many times without changing or cleaning the waste ink pads you run the risk of spilling ink on whatever the printer is sitting on.
proceedure follows • mpc190/200 Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter 1) Enter SERVICE MODE.--- By pressing Menu-Copy-Scan-Copy-Copy 2) Select TEST MODE. 3) Select [8] PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE. 4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR]. 5) Select 0. [INK COUNT]. 6) Press the [OK] key. 7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key. good luck
|
 | Re: Canon MPC INKTank FULL by urbanp (9/4/05 1:44 AM) | + / - | Stephen!
I already know the procedure you provided, but it does not fix the problem.
After I press [OK] button (step 6) printer loads a paper. Then LCD display shows what I saw in step 4 (- 8-3 +). Then I press the [Stop/Reset] key and the LCD display shows Test mode (like after pressing [OK] in step 2). Then I press the [ON/OFF] key. The display says Please wait and the paper is beeing unloaded. After that the LCD display shows "Copy mode" and it still shows error ##335.
Can you help me?
BTW: I have cleaned the waste ink pads after unsuccesful reset and then I tried again, but the printer still shows the error.

 | Re: Canon MPC INKTank FULL by urbanp (9/4/05 3:28 AM) | +1 + / - | I did it. I removed the printhead, cleaned it and put it back.
Then the printer reported "Wrong cartridge". I replaced the printhead with new one (that I happened to have here) and the problem was fixed.

 | Re: Canon MPC INKTank FULL by alextllam (10/8/05 2:01 AM) | + / - | My printer is a mpc200.
The procedure "Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter" does not resolve my printer's problem. it still shows error ##335.
When going through all messages, I have not seen any one with a MPC200 has got the problem resolved by using the procedure.
One message stated: "I removed the printhead, cleaned it and put it back." I want to give it a try. Can anyone advice me how to remove the printhead of a mpc200? I took out the six srews (2 in front and 4 at the back), and I still could not dis-assemble any part.
Thanks...Alex

 | Canon MP390 Won't print correctly by gothicfaery (11/27/05 2:06 PM) | + / - | Ok.. I have tried everything everyone has said about this.
When I print a page, it looks as though the ink cartridge is low since the paper comes out with white streaks, partial printing etc... I have changed the cartride, re-aligned everything, cleaned and deep cleaned, checked the paper thing, fixed the waste ink full thing, I have done everything I know how and the problem still isnt fixed.
Of course canon is closed on Sundays!
What am i missing? I've had this printer for over a year and it worked great and then all of a sudden.. BOOM! This happens.. Grr!

 | Re: Canon MP390 Won't print correctly by granville85 (2/5/06 8:23 AM) | + / - | I had/have exactly the same problem with an MPC200 and I'd also had the thing for over a year. No problems, then over a few days the ink supply just gradually gave up, first getting streaky then failing completely. Tried changing the cartridges, cleaning etc., even ordered a new printhead - no use. Seems as if something internal is giving too weak a signal to the cartridges. Canon, by the way, were no help at all. I e-mailed them explaining the problem and saying I'd already tried changing the printhead; they wrote back and said 'Try changing the printhead.'
Does anyone have any ideas? Is this fixable or should I just take the thing to the dump?

 | Re: Canon MPC INKTank FULL by mir (5/6/06 8:24 AM) | + / - | With my Canon MPC 190 my problem is that I keep on getting the error message 'waste ink near full'. According to previous postings which I've read, I have to enter the 'service mode' by pressing Menu-Copy-Scan-Copy-Copy. However, I cannot access these possibilities. When I press the menu switch, I can only select one of the following possibilities: 1. Enlarge/Reduce 2. Paper select 3. Density 4. Image quality 5. Special copy 6. Ink volume 7. Maintenance 8. User Data Can anybody tell me how to access/enter the service mode? At the moment the orange light is blinking, the printer can still scan, but it won't print. All help greatly appreciated, thanks.

 | Re: Canon Multipass F80 error by blindfold (5/12/06 12:03 PM) | + / - | My Multipass F80 alarm flashes with the words CHECK PRINTER - PRESS RESUME KEY
I press the resume without any change.
Can anyone help?
|
 | Re: Re: Canon Multipass F80 error by Anonymous (5/12/06 2:15 PM) | + / - | Blindfold--
What a coincidence!!! I have the same printer with the same problem. Mine started last night. A PDF I found online said CHECK PRINTER meant one of two things:
1) There could be a paper jam or some other obstruction preventing the printhead holder mechanism from moving back and forth. However, if you don't find any problem and pressing RESUME doesn't clear it, the only alternative is to call Canon Customer Care.
I've never had a paper jam in three years of use, and there wasn't a jam or any other obstruction this time either.
2) The waste ink tank may be full. Again, the only alternative is to call Canon Customer Care.
The tank is actually a pad or sponge at the bottom of the printer. It is contained in a black plastic holder and runs the width of the printer underneath the path of the printhead.
In looking at this forum, apparently the determination of full on many Canon printers comes from a counter, not a sensor. There's a counter you can reset when in service mode in the software. I found no specific instructions for Multipass F80, but tried one that people said worked on an F50. I was able to navigate through it, but it didn't help, the error is still there, still can't print.
Here it is, see if it helps you: 1) Enter Service Mode Hit [MENU]-[COPY]-[#] Display says: SERVICE MODE #1 SSSW
2) Select Test Mode Use the arrow keys under the LCD display. If yours is like mine, hit the left arrow once. Otherwise just keep moving through the list with the arrow keys until you see it. When you reach the right place, the display says: SERVICE MODE TEST MODE Press [SET] when you reach it.
Display says: TEST MODE [1]-[8] CF-FH2 :USA-07-02 Now press [8].
Display says: TEST MODE [1]-[8] PLEASE WAIT then after making some mechanical noises, 8: PRINTER TEST [2]---[8] Now press [3].
Display says: 8-3: EEPROM CLEAR [0]:INK COUNT alternating with [1]:2PURGE FLAG Now press [0].
Display says: TEST MODE [1]-[8] 8: PRINTER TEST Instructions I got said press [OK], but there isn't one on the F80, so skip that part and press [STOP/RESET] followed by [ON/OFF].
This made no difference at all, still get Check Printer error. Let me know if it helps you.
If there are any MultiPass F80 experts out there, please HELP!!!!

I also have "Scanner Error" on my MP390 except it only scans in yellow & white (not black and white!) when scanning a black and white image. Scanning a colour image is even worse. I also cannot do a simple black and white photocopy.
I have tried entering service mode (Menu-Copy-Scan-Copy-Scan) but with no luck. How do I get into service mode on a MP390?!?! It seems to be posted here in many different ways.
Wen, did you ever get a reply to your post or solve your problem?
Thanks in advance for any help. :-)

A. Cause: The ink detection waste ink tank is full.
Solution: Power cycle the machine (unplug unit).
Solution: Replace the ink detection waste ink pad. Reset the ink detection waste ink pad capacity to 0, in the service mode. Note: if the capacity of the absorption pad is unclear, register a value corresponding to the quantity of absorbed ink in pad
Solution: Replace the PCNT PWB, and register a value for the absorption capacity, according to the quantity of absorbed ink in pad.
Solution: Replace the SCNT PWB, and register a value for the absorption capacity, according to the quantity of absorbed ink in pad.

 | MPC 190 error #335 Waste Ink by Cornelius Goh (6/25/06 3:33 AM) | + / - | I have finally fixed this frustrated problem! You don't need any hammer to crush it in your garden :) You just need 3 things: - a cross screw-driver - a lot of wiper sheets or blotting papers which can easily absorb inks. - a pair of gloves (to protect your fingers from the inks)
Procedure A) Wiping away waste inks inside MPC 190 Printer box Precaution: disconnect power cable and USB printer cable!!! 1) Open the right pannel. There are few tiny screws at the back (next to the USB cable slot). You might need a little force to open the right pannel. 2) Locate the small black color waste ink pad, which is below the ink tanks. (you can slightly push the ink tanks away from its original right position in the printer to the extreme left) 3) With a pincer or a long-enough screw driver, use the papers to wipe away extra inks. You must repeat with many sheets of papers until the last sheet is dry with nothing or little ink left. 4) Done. Close the right panel and re-connect the printer. Go to Procedure B) below.
Procedure B)Reset Waste Ink Code 1) Enter SERVICE MODE by pressing sequentially Menu Copy Scan Copy Copy 2) Select TEST MODE. 3) Press '+' 8 times till 'Select [8]' PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE. 4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR]. 5) Select 0. [INK COUNT]. 6) Press the [OK] key. 7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key. 8) Done
Your printer is now saved! Clean the nozzle, print head as you do normally to have nice printout.
Please send me a thank-you note to corneliusgoh@gmail.com if you manage to save your MPC190!

 | Re: MPC 190 error #335 Waste Ink by rety (9/8/06 1:42 AM) | + / - | Hi Cornelius, last month my printer canon MPC190 also faced this problem ##335, but after following your great step from"enter SERVICE MODE" till "INK COUNT" OK, everything's back to normal again.
But now, the problem comes again. At first it blinked and stated "Wrong cartridge" , i wanna take out the cartridge and open the cover, but the cartridge didn't come to the middle. So i leave it, and the next day , it blinked and stated again "##335 CHECK PRINTER PRESS RESUME". So i follow my previous way using the above mentioned step. For this time, it doesn't come back to normal as i wish. It's still blinking "##335 " till now.
Could you pls advise me the second step to fix this. I really wish that you could help me for this 2nd time.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards, Rety

 | Re: Canon MPC/Smartbase/Pixma INKTank FULL by lusi83 (10/4/06 3:22 AM) | + / - | I would not buy a new Canon printer. I have been told by Canon that all modern Canon printers - with a print head separate to the cartridges – are based on this design. Firstly the print head will fail after a while -there are lots of methods on the web and in this forum to extend the print head’s life (things like cleaning with water and isopropyl alcohol-do this OFF THE MACHINE). Canon recommends using repeated ‘deep head cleaning’ on the printer before replacing the print head –AVOID THIS because of the more serious problem with these machines. Better just to try printing pages of junk (using genuine Canon ink).
Every time the print head is cleaned (frequently) and when ‘deep head cleaning’ you use some ink – this ink goes onto the waste ink absorber pad. This is basically some absorbent material in the base of the printer. You cannot access this without taking the WHOLE PRINTER to pieces, the printer keeps track of how many times ink goes onto the pad.
After a while it will decide that this pad is full and needs to be replaced. The printer will no longer work and show an error message. This pad can only be replaced by a Canon service centre…basically it is cheaper to buy a new printer. If you look around on the web, in this forum or can get hold of a Canon service manual (can be downloaded from the web -mine was £5) you will be able to reset the value and continue to use the printer BUT you do risk ink leaking out of the bottom of the printer (and may damage the purge unit). Probably best not to reset more than once. The ‘purge unit’ is the part that sucks ink into the absorber pad – and I guess that the tube feeding into the pad gets blocked with ink.
Canon are more than aware of the design fault – I would guess it would be pretty simple to design the units so that the ink pads are user replaceable (a flap on the base) and the reset is in user manual but for some reason(!) Canon haven't done this.
I’ve learned this from experience I did lots of deep head cleaning including using isopropyl alcohol in cartridges before replacing my print head (£40) and then immediately running into the waste ink pad problem – before I had found the info here about the reset - I took mine, a Smartbase MP360 to pieces and the pad was pretty full and yucky –I washed it, dried it and put it back and reset. I’m pretty sure my purge unit has failed, the tube at the bottom was sitting in the gunky ink(or possibly I damaged something else whilst dismantling) – it will be cheaper to get a new printer (not a Canon) then invest any more money in this one…

 | Re: MPC 190 error #335 Waste Ink by renaat (11/5/06 9:13 AM) | + / - | Dear Cornelius,
After having a lot of trouble I found the menu you are refering to. I cautiously went through all the steps of the procedure, but in the end my MPC190 is still telling me that an error ##335 occurs. My machine still does not work ! Do you have any other explanation about the meaning of this code ? Perhaps I should try out something else.
Thanks anyway,

 | Re: Canon MPC INKTank FULL by renaat (edited 11/10/06 3:32 AM) | + / - | Dear Anonymous and Cornelius After resetting about every item in the menu of my MPC190 the error 335 did not disappear. At last I removed the printing head. Then an I got the message : wrong cartridge. I have not changed any cartridge, the cartridges are not empty and they are guinine Canon cartridges. Any suggestions ? If the problem cannot be solved quickly, I'll have to buy an other machine, but it certainly will not be a Canon ! I can get a HP for only 82.5 € Or a Dell for 83 € (home delivered). Greets

 | Re: Re: Canon MPC INKTank FULL by Anonymous (1/11/07 3:02 AM) | + / - | This procedure is a bit vague but it goes something like this:
Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter 1) Enter SERVICE MODE.--- By pressing Menu Copy Copy Copy Scan 2) Select TEST MODE. 3) Select [8] PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE. 4) Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR]. 5) Select 0. [INK COUNT]. 6) Press the [Set] key. 7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3)), and then press the [ON/OFF] key.

 | Re: Re: Re: Canon MPC INKTank FULL by Cornelius Goh (1/12/07 8:08 PM) | + / - | Hi Anonymous, the correct "Reset Waste Ink Code" commands should be Menu Copy Scan Copy Copy, not Scan at the end. Please read below and my posting in 6/25/2006.
Procedure B) Reset Waste Ink Code 1) Enter SERVICE MODE by pressing sequentially Menu Copy Scan Copy Copy 2) Select TEST MODE. 8) Done
Canon is a great printer in terms of color quality and price. But it is a 'pain in the A**' when fixing the printer :)
Nevertheless, the MPC190 is still my best printer amongst my other 2 printers HP and Epson. The ink cartridge is 50% or more cheaper than HP's, and the Canon color photo papers print out beautifully from my MPC190 using the color Print Photo Software.
