Bill: I'm guessing that your printer is actually having a communication type of problem. When a printer prints has communication problems, its usually caused by: #1 a bad/failing parallel printer cable. It can be caused by an old worn cable, or a poor quality cable [not bi-directional printer cable, or not an IEEE-1284 rated cable], or simply a loose connection on either end of your present cable [be sure cable is securely connected on both ends]. Inexpensive parallel cables are not usually shielded enough and are not always bi-directional. TECH NOTE: If you are using a USB CABLE, you will usually you have less communication problems caused by a bad or corrupted USB cable, but its possible. #2 bad/corrupted printer drivers: printer drivers are usually available online from EPSON at no charge; remove/de-install your old printer drivers and then go online and download the newest drivers available for your printer. If you use your old CD that came with your printer, then you are not getting the latest changes/updates available free from Epson Company. As Printer Drivers are free, I recommend trying those first. You can delete your printer and its drivers and then download the latest available drivers from the Epson Home Page at http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/index.jsp . "DEINSTALL" [remove] your old drivers/printer first and then go to the "EPSON.COM" web-site. Click -on your particular area, where you live [example: USA]. Then click-on "DRIVERS AND SUPPORT" and then click-on your particular type of Epson Printer [example: INKJET]. Look under the "Ink Jet Printers" for your "Epson Stylus C82" and click-on it. Once the "DOWNLOAD PAGE" opens, read the INFORMATION to locate your particular SYSTEM [Win's 95,98,ME,2000.etc.] and then click-on it. Follow the directions and read all the available information concerning your systems driver downloads. Finally at the bottom of the page, click-on "Printer Software Installation for Windows ___ [Epson Printers]", or the "Download" option button. After the downloading utility opens, read the download information available, make your choices and complete the installation. If new drivers don't help, then you can always buy a new Printer Cable to try...Check for an e-mail from me with some additional info on communication type problems...Good Luck! Denny Conway

My C82 longer longs prints black; the print heads seem totally clogged. I've tried the software/head cleaner fixes but they don't work. Epson advised flushing the heads. Do you have a repair kit?

thanks

Re: epson C82 by Denny Conway (10/4/04 5:21 PM) reply + / -
Dan: I don't work for "fixyourownprinter.com", but I can tell you that there are no actual repair kits available for individual models of Epson Ink Jet Printers, like there are for HP Laserjet Printers. However there is the "Epson Stylus Head Cleaning Solution" for possible CLOGS in the Printhead Nozzles, that is available through the Home Page on "fixyourownprinter.com", at http://fixyourownprinter.com/ and is usable on most Epson Ink Jet Printers. When that web-site page opens, click-on Epson, under PRINTER REPAIR KITS. Then click-on "Epson Stylus Head Cleaning Solution" and that page should then open correctly. The Epson Solution sells for around $10.00 plus shipping. It includes a syringe and some Epson Printhead Cleaning Solution, which is designed to dissolve most clogs, especially if you were using Epson inks. This is the same chemical used by Epson in their service department. You can try it if you want to and see if you can get the printhead nozzles to open up again, but that will only help if they are actually clogged. It was basically designed by Epson Company for use on their older models of ink jet printers, but people have been using on the newer models, with some sucess reported. WES suggests trying the SSC Service Utility from here: http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html . Unfortunatly, that SSC Utility does not work on all printers and on all Operating Systems and sometimes won't even work on printers that are actually listed, so you will have to check it out for yourself. If it does work for you, people have had some success using its "separate cleaning of color and black heads routine" and its "powerful cleaning mode", but be warned it uses up ink faster...It's also possible that you may have a different problem, which unfortunatly seems to be quite common on the C82/C84 series. If you were to do a search on this Printer Repair Site [under your Epson C82 printer], you would see that you are not alone in your problem. I've read several posted messages on this Printer Repair Site on just that particular problem. I recommend that you do a general search on the "fixyourownprinter.com" printer repair site, under your C82 printer and then you can read about other peoples experiences, their advise and even what they have tried, sometimes successfully. It seems like most of the problems are not actually related to clogging, or even a bad or empty ink cartridge, but is usually more of a Hardware/Parts Failure, but no way for me to really know. It seems to happen most of the time, just by simply repacing the ink cartridges, as normal. You might want to check out the "Stylus C82/C84 & CX-5200 Blank Output" information page, put out by Compass Micro Inc, at http://www.compassmicro.com/tip_detail.cfm?TechTipID=23 . I know this information does not really give you that much to go on, but I felt you should know about other peoples reports, just in case it happens to apply in your case. Look for an e-mail from me, with some previously posted messages, by other people...Good Luck! Denny Conway...P.S. Check for an e-mail from me, with some additional information with that cleaning kit, in case you decide to use it.

Thank you; I'll try the solution and if that doesn't work, it's a new printer for me. For $75, I can get a whole new one so repair doesn't seem to make much sense.

Daniel: You're welcome! Unfortunatly its a disposable world and in the Printer Industry, any ink jet printer under $100.00 is considered a disposable printer. With rebates and sale prices, its almost cheaper to buy a new disposable printer, than it is to buy two new ink cartridges...Denny Conway

Hey,

Chances are you can try out some sort of continuous inkflow system which provides ink level always full chipset.

Try this out: http://www.Inkrepublic.com

Hope this helps.

I lost or misplaced my CD-ROM for my printer so I downloaded the driver from epson.com, then I was told I needed a certain .dll(E_DIO6IE.dll) I've searched in many places and turned up squat. I was wondering where I could find it. Thank you

My photos are not giving true skin color redish can you help

Re: epson C82 by Wes (12/18/04 9:45 AM) reply + / -
Sometimes the drivers can be the cause of that. But if you are using a generic ink then that might be the cause as well. To me Dura Brite inks just don't look right anyway.

Also some generic ink cartridges don't get a full ink charge so they start to run low before the ink monitor says they are even close to being empty. Once a color is low or out it will throw the colors off because a needed color is no longer in the output ink mix.

You can use the link a few posts above this one to download the latest drivers. Or try adjusting the colors on the photo and see if that helps.

Is the problem on just that photo or on all your photos. You can print the pafe from this link and see how bad the color are off http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/Color.html

I hope this helped a little,

Wes.

Installing epson C82 by rrhodd (1/6/05 11:27 AM) reply + / -
I am trying to install my Epson C82 and am having no luck. My computer does not recognize new hardware if I am using a parallel cable. However if I use a USB it prompts me for new hardware. I follow the instructions for setting up the printer and every thing is fine untill I do a test print.

I get a "Resource code 15" error message and I cannot seem to resolve this error message.

I am going to uninstall the printer and try installing it again. Hope to get a response soon. Thanks.

rrhodd

Re: epson C82 by Denny Conway (1/6/05 11:47 AM) reply + / -
rrhodd...Just in case no one is able to help you: I wanted to let you know that your problem is normally not an actual problem in the printer itself, but usually a problem in your Computer System. Be sure and first delete your printer from your computer, prior to going on-line to epson.com, to download new Printer Drivers. If you don't delete your printer first, you may be loading new drivers on top of older corrupted drivers and they could cause conflicts with the new drivers. If installing new printer drivers does not help, then you may need to get help from a Computer Technician/Person, rather than a Printer Technician on this Printer Repair Site. You may have an actual problem in your computer system, such as incorrect settings, bad software, bad hardware/parts, etc...I'm sorry, but I just work on the actual printers and not computer problems...Good Luck! Denny Conway
