EPSON C44UX INK

EPSON C44UX INK by numsig (7/23/04 5:50 AM) reply + / -
No matter what I do I cannot pursuade my epson to accept 'geniune' epson catridges. The model numbers for the cartridges are specific and are correct. I have tried several different actual cartridges so it is unlikely that they are broken.
My printer simply will not recognise the ink cartridges and nothing will work/print. Somebody please help I'm gonna lose my temper with this printer very soon. I cant spent eternity re-installing these ink cartridges - something else is clearly the problem.

Numsig: If those are New-Epson Ink Cartridges and I hope you remembered to actually remove the pull tape off of those new ink cartridges, prior to actual installation. Even if those are New-Epson Ink Cartridges and they are actually the correct cartridge numbers [black = #T036120 & color = #T037020], its always possible that they are actually bad ink cartridges. The only way to really eliminate a possible bad cartridge [even if it happens to be a new cartridge], is to actually replace it, or test it in another printer that uses the same cartridge and was working ok with its own cartridges installed. Unfortunatly, that is usually not practical, unless you know someone that has the same printer or uses the same cartridge in their printer...As far as the printer not recognizing the installed ink cartridges: The only other thing I can suggest is to try cleaning the "Electrical Chip" [electrical contact area] on the ink cartridge itself and the electrical contact area inside the "Print Cartridge Holder Assembly". With your printer turned off and unplugged, simply try cleaning all the electrical contacts carefully and gently, with Distilled Water on Q-Tips or on a lint free rag. Its possible that the electrical contacts, or the electrical chip on the ink cartridge, or the electrical contacts inside the print cartridge holder assembly, may simply be dirty. Using damp Q-tips [not wet or dripping], gently and carefully wipe off the copper colored electrical plates on the cartridges and the electrical contacts inside the holder assy. Its best to use "Distilled Water", because it has less chemicals and minerals in it, than tap water and regular tap water can actually cause additional problems. Use new dry Q-Tips to dry off all the electrical contacts after cleaning, because electricity and water do not mix well...OTHER THAN THAT CLEANING: The only way to really eliminate a possible bad cartridge [even if it happens to be a new cartridge], is to actually replace it, or test it in another printer that uses the same cartridge and was working ok with its own cartridges installed. Unfortunatly, that is usually not practical, unless you know someone that has the same printer or uses the same cartridge in their printer...ONE FINAL OBSERVATION: Some people have reported that when they hook up their printer to a different Computer System [like a friends], with a different Operating System [esp Win's 98], the ink cartridges seem to be able to be correctly installed, with no problems. It seems that Win's XP may cause more ink errors or problems when installing new ink cartridges, especially when using Non-Epson Ink Cartridges [Generic or Third-Party cartridges], that are not always accepted by an Epson Printer. Windows 98 has been reported to be a system that allows the ink cartridges to be correctly installed, sometimes even Non-Epson Ink Cartridges, that may not normally be recognized correctly by your printer, when using Wins XP, or possibly some other operating systems. I had people report that once the cartridges are recognized using the Win's 98 Computer System, the printer can then be hooked back-up to the Win's XP Computer System and the ink error problem is no longer present...Denny Conway

cheers, for such a dedicated response. Refreshing change from the epson website help, which doesnt ever have the 'category'.

I have already ordered and tried replacements from epson...they are genuine and still didnt work. Looks like i'm onto the cleaning then!
All my friends also use XP so that route will be tough one to take.....worst comes to worst i can send it back....its just hassle i could do without....

Thankyou
