With our HP932C printer, we can print in B/W, but the color printing only comes out pink. Have tried replacing color cartridges but still have the same problem. B/W printing is also a bit fuzzy-- not real clear or sharp edges even on high quality print setting. The cartridges we have are remanuf. from 123injets, marked HP-C6578A/D.
We've tried cleaning the cartridge where the ink comes out- no good.Can we replace the printer head? We're in Africa and can't get to a service person.

Clean the cartridge and carriage electrical contacts with a cotton swab moistened with water. If that doesn't solve your problem, the failure is almost certainly the cartridge. Test them in another Deskjet 900 series printer if you have one available. My money is on a bad cartridge.
Terri...Just to let you know, the printhead is built into the actual ink cartridge, on your HP Deskjet Printer. So everytime you install a new ink cartridge, you are also installing a new printhead assembly. HP cartridges were never meant to be refilled and actually have an expiration date stamped on them. You may need a magnifiying glass to be able to read that expiration date. Sometime after that expiration date passes, the electrical contacts inside the printer will detect it and shut down the cartridge. Unfortunatly, with Remanufactored or Refilled cartridges, bad cartridges are quite common, just as BERT stated. If the expiration date is not passed, then you can try a trick that has worked for some people. I did the same thing with the new cartridge, and now they both work. It took a couple cleaning cycles until the ink wasn't watery, but it works fine now. Kevin said he soaked his in hot water and Anonymous said he ran his under hot water. This works. I had 3 cartridges and all three work after doing this. I heated a cup of water in the microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds and put the whole tip end in the water for about 15 minutes. Then I ran it under the facet with the hottest water that would come out. I did this until I cold see some of the blue on the tip coming out. I was getting Magenta/red the whole time. I then dried everything off very well and let the cartridge air dry for about 1/2 hour.
