My Epson C82 ran out of ink (all 4 cartridges), I replaced them all, followed all directions and still nothing prints. Well the paper is fed through and there are only very faint markings on the paper. Any ideas?
Windows XP, latest drivers from epson.

| Re: Epson C82 won't print by Denny Conway (4/2/04 5:38 PM) reply | + / - | Philo: JUST TO LET YOU KNOW: If you were to do a search on this Printer Repair Site, under the Epson C80 or C82 series Printers, you would see that you are not alone in your problem. I've read several posted messages on this Printer Repair Site on just that particular problem. It seems to be especially bad when you are using Non Epson Inks, but can happen even when using New Epson Ink Cartridges. I recommend that you do a general search on the "fixyourownprinter.com" printer repair site, under your C80 or C82 printer and then you can read about other peoples experiences, their advise and even what they have tried, sometimes successfully. It seems like the problems are not actually related to clogging, but usually more of a Hardware Failure [parts problem], but no way for me to really know. It seems to happen most of the time, just by simply repacing the ink cartridges, as normal. I have went thru the Technical Support Bulletins that Epson America posts for their Authorized Service Dealors and theres no mention of that type of problem, or anything even simular in nature. I know this information does not really give you that much to go on, but I felt you should know about other peoples reports, just in case it happens to apply in your case...Wes has supplied a link that might also help: "If you want to see what's involved in print head cleaning try this link. http://www.epsonhelp.web1000.com/printhead.html "...Denny Conway...P.S. I assume the c82 and c80 are essentially the same wrt ink jets. Bummer.

The Epson Stylus Head Cleaning Solution, sold by "fixyourownprinter.com", states that it is not designed for the C80 printers, or for that matter even the newer series Epson Printers, but the fluid and syringe can still be used in the same way. The main difference is the instructions for the Cap Assembly [felt pad]. The C80 series and newer series printers, use a different style cap assembly that does not use a felt pad, so you have to ignore that portion of the instructions. The Epson fluids, that comes in the kit, is still the best thing to try, especially if you have a possible clog, but you try it at your own risk on the newer Epson Printers. I have read of many people using the kit on their newer printers and there have been no reported problems that I am aware of. You can try the kit if you want to and see if it helps to get the printhead nozzles to open up again...Again, Good Luck! Denny Conway
