3 orange flashes means a paper jam... make sure there is no paper anywhere in the printer, then disconnect power for 30 seconds. Turn it back on and watch to see if it tries to feed paper. If not you have a broken paper sensor.

Aileen: I'm sorry, but I do not usually work on Canon Printers, so I'm not really framiliar with them. The following web-site links may be useful in the future, if they don't help you right now. SITE #1: http://canonhelp.freehttp.com/ . A "Canon Help Page" for Error Codes, thats for a lot of the "BC" and "BJC" Printers. SITE #2: http://www.usa.canon.com/html/conCprTSIndex.jsp . A Canon USA Technical Support page. SITE #3: http://www.usa.canon.com/html/conCprSupport.jsp . A Canon USA "Contact Canon" site for PRODUCT INFORMATION/TECHNICAL SUPPORT. SITE #4: http://www.usa.canon.com/html/conCprTSIndex.jsp?app=download . A Canon USA "Download Library" web-site...You can also try http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/canon/canonidx.htm , for possible help...Denny Conway

Re: canon s600 paper jam by Anonymous (8/4/05 1:42 AM) reply + / -
My Canon S600 is becoming a pain in the butt.
It swallowed a sheet of paper the other day. I took it off the platform and turned it over and looked inside and and. Can't see any paper anywhere but apparently has 2 pages inside SOMEWHERE. Can't find any instructions for clearing paper jams other than remove power, then power on and push power button twice which causes it to try to feed. But the paper is inside SOMEWHERE and it won't come out.

Can anyone tell me how to open this printer up and get the $%&*#@** paper out of it??

Thanks
Bill

Saw the post by Denny re links to get help from Canon on printers. My report: Tried this on http://www.usa.canon.com/html/conCprTSIndex.jsp
Result: their site would not work and I could not use it to contact their tech support. Interesting.

Well, I went to all the Canon links given in Denny's post using both Mozilla and M$IE.

Result: None of the Canon sites would work and I could not even contact their Tech Support. Now I am beginning to understand why my S600 don't work. Canon is just not interested after they got my money.

Hi Aileen

The error indicated is a EEPROM fault, which means you can try and clear the ROM on the main board to clear all the settings, or replace the board.

To clear the settings.

1) When the power is turned off, hold down the RESUMEbutton, press and hold the POWER button. The green indicator will light up.
2) While holding down the POWER button, release the RESUME button. Then push the RESUME button twice(2) and then release the POWER button.
(The indicator blinks in orange/green every time the RESUME button is pressed.)
3) The green indicator blinks while the printer warms up. When the
indicator lights (stops blinking), press the RESUME button 2 times to select the EEPROM reset.
(indicator blinks in orange/green every time the RESUME button is pressed.)
4)Press the POWER button to execute the reset.

If this does not work you will most likely have to change the main board, better still buy a new printer.

Cheers

Well, I have a final report on my S600. I mentioned a couple posts back that it had jammed on a couple pages of paper. I started looking for them, they can't be seen. Took the case off the dang thing and still can't see htem but they are in there and make a big squeek when the printer cycles. I also noted that the waste tank pads need cleaning which I know how to do.

So I emailed Canon Support, they referred me to an authorized service center nearby, like 150 miles north of me. I called them and they will be happy to fix my printer for a minimum fee of $48 plus shipping both ways. The bill could easily runt to $75 and when I get thru I will just have a refurbished printer. So I am solving the problem: Tomorrow the S600 will go to the dump.

I have been reading reviews and shopping around and I find that I can get a brand new in the box Canon iP3000 for around $50 and then about $15 shipping, on Amazon. And the seller will include a free USB Cable too. The PC Mag reviews say this is a good printer.

So that's the solution, just recycle your printer and get a new one. And don't buy an Epson because if you do you will have to spend $25 to get a chip reseter so that you can refill the cartridges.

My two cents,
Bill

My canon s600 has 7 orange blinking lights, then 1 green. I have cleaned out the printhead and it works for 1 or 2 pages. Canon has not been helpful in finding a replacement printhead. Any suggestions?

If you cleaned the printhead and it works for 1 or 2 pages and then stops again, it is probably your ink carts. If they are old and even if they are full of ink, they are probably clogged at the exit port. Take out each ink tank and put it on top of a paper towel folder to 1/4 size,... then softly blow on the top rear air port. This will force ink out of the ink cart and get it primed again. Then re-install all the ink carts and do a deep cleaning. Then a nozzle test. If things are not getting any better, your Purge unit is probably not sucking sufficient ink to prime the printhead. There are several places where you can get some very inexpensive ink carts for the s600 so buy some and install them and see if the problem goes away. If you cleaned you printhead and actually got it to print some color, it is not bad. You just have an ink flow problem.
